Anonymous Bird

.

On August 5, 2008 King Jack the regal Parrot became Queen Jackie. This was determined by the surprise discovery of a rather large white egg in his, ah her, cage, uncovered by King Jack's owner, Anonymous Bird.

.
This is the same regal parrot who had Anon and all her blog friends worried sick when he went missing, escaping outside and gone for days before, finally, being spotted and rescued. We all breathed a collective sigh of huge relief.

.

On August 5, 2008, Anonymous Bird, a one-of-a-kind Australian blogger with a wonderful wit and a penchant for photographing the most amazing birds, went missing herself. It was not anticipated by her parting comment that she would disappear:
..

"We're going off line and then spasmodically posting for a bit. Don't know when we'll be back but will catch up to your blogs when it happens. Apologies for not catching up before leaving."

Anonybird and Queen Jackie.
.
.
Despite the warmth and openness of her blog, Anonymous Bird made sure she was anonymous. Now, almost two years later, there are 180 comments waiting for her, http://www.birdanonymous.blogspot.com/, all of us worrying about her and wanting to know she is safe.

.

I don't believe she just stopped blogging.
.
.

And like Renee, Anon was one of those special people in life who you just looked forward to hearing from, who made you laugh with her irrepressible intelligence and silliness and warmth.
.
.
Two days ago something changed on Anon's blog. Two days ago, after 178 comments that have been automatically saved and unanswered, suddenly, comment moderation has been added.
..
.
THERE IS ACTIVITY.
.
.
SOMEBODY HAS CHANGED THE SETTINGS ON ANON'S BLOG.
.
.
Annie (Bimbimbee, a terrific blog friend who also loves birds) and I are cautiously holding each other up and holding out hope. I can think of nothing I would like more than to know Anon is okay.
.
.
Today, Annie left the following comment on Anon's blog:
.
.

Dearest Queenie Jacquelinie
it's been quite some time
since Grandma Anony
closed a pool party.
Loving salutations
regularly bestowed
at your nest door
grow in number
by the score.
Yet not one
BWARK! or TSUP!
do you utter
We shake our heads
and fluff our feathers
not deterred
we leave an other
for you to read
at your leisure.
A change has
been detected
which brings forth
a smile of pleasure
for hope is
rekindled
now we realise
our Queenie Jacqueline
has her wings
upon the dashboard ...

Tsup! Tsup! Honk!
The Society of Queen Jackie
.
.

We could use your good wishes and prayers that Anonymous Bird and Queen Jackie are alive and well. And if you don't mind, a little extra prayer that she will let us know that.
.
.
And if you don't mind my own prayer: please don't just disappear. Almost two years later, I still think of Anon often and I smile with her whenever I visit her blog. I miss her dearly. There is love in these here blogs: in some connected and real way, we're in this together.

Love you, Anon....tsup!

  1. I did not know Anon, but I will pray for her return and that she is safe. I promise the only way I will disappear is to die without notice. Otherwise If I leave blogging I will let you know, even if my computer blows up I will call you. And I would never be far from you or some other special ones. I love you too much.

  3. Oh, I don't know her either,,but how strange.
    she's on my prayer list.

(and, like Annie,,, you won't get rid of me easily either,,,,as long as I'm in control of myself)

  4. Oh! I just adored Anon and King/Queen J. I've just now after waiting and watching for two years, deleted them from my following list. Darn. Darn. Darn.

I'm so glad to read that there are signs of life again. Annie, I love your yearning, beckoning poem. KJ, thanks so must for the update.

    I'm going back to following.

  5. Anon sounds like a great person, but I don't know her. So how come I'm all excited at the prospect of activity at her blog after a two-year hiatus? Because you made me care!

(word verification is oviriari....some sort of kinship with aviary?)

  6. I've given instructions to my DH to post an explanation if I go missing, or can't post for awhile. I agree...it's upsetting when someone just disappears!

  7. I have seen the parrot logo on ces's blog too ad wondeed about it, bird lover that I am.......
Now your story has me both intrigued and a little heartbroken; I hope that all is well with both bird and keeper.
It is indeed odd that the blog just went completely quite, yet remained up, accepting remarks.
I hope and pray your friend my shake their wings and return for a quick peck.....

    XXOO!!
    Anne
P.S. If anything happens to me, well, I'll have to leave someone in charge of the blog. I am not sure DH would remember all the buttons and gizmos.....but I'll manage to let everyone know, even if it is from the great beyond...

  8. Gosh, that's strange about Anon. And about the recent activity. Yes, prayers she/he is well and birdy too.

As for disappearing, well If I closed my blog I would do a post on it. If I died unexpectedly however, I guess I would just disappear. I have no DH. Or really anyone who could send out a message.

Maybe I should put a note in my will instructing my executor to create a byebye post.

  10. let's hope the stirrings at Anon's will be something to celebrate!!

I'll have to let Bri know how to post something if I can't blog anymore. I think my sister would do it for me.

For now, I don't have any plans to stop :)

I need this support group. It's my therapy! :P

  11. Hi kj! That is strange. I hope all is well, and that they will be back soon. I had a similar thing happen on flickr - a lovely, funny, intelligent pal who just stopped posting. All of us were left wondering what happened, and posting little comments on her pictures, etc. I have a not-good feeling about it.

I hope Anon is safe and will be back on-line soon! Happy weekend - xoxo! Pam

  12. What an odd event....but perhaps something happened to her (him) and the need to stop communicating became paramount.

I will add her to my prayer list.

As for my little "blogette", well, like others who are alone and have no family, if Death comes calling, then my words will fall silent....but I think when Annie learned of it, she would contact my blogging family...

Oohh....too dark s morning to begin like this.... need more coffee....now...

Best of luck with a smooth house-organising.... check on the Raccoon Family for us!

    Love,

    ♥ Robin ♥

  13. Kj,
Hope all goes well at your mom's.
    Big hugs.
Robin, if something happened to you, I would surly post and you do the same if I drop dead :-).
WE will probably both live to be 100.

  14. I can't describe the joy I felt when I saw the bird on my screen. I hope she comes back, even just to say she doesn't feel like blogging any more. I miss her so, and that boiled counterpart of hers.

  16. I have always wanted to ask you, KJ, what means 'tsup'?
Maybe Anon is very ill and cannot handle her computer properly. Or she wants to stop and doesn't dare to tell her blogfriends. I knew a very active blogger about four years ago. A very intelligent woman, but she stopped too without a warning. After a week or two I have sent her an e-mail to ask whether she was ill or something. But she responded that she was in therapy because of her internetaddiction. There were a lot of worried people in her commentbox, but she was not only allowed to check her e-mail. I could not believe my eyes when reading this, but such things can happen.
    How is Stella btw?

  17. oh.. she is fine.. i just have a gut feel abt it..
and kj, i know just what u r talking abt.. when u say it hurts when ppl jus abandon a blog and vanish.. but am sure they have compelling reasons too.. not everyone depends on blog friends for warmth and companionship!

  18. It was mysterious and her blog led to yours and Bimbimbie and a number of others who I consider unmet friends still. I hate it when bloggers go without a word. I hope that someone is tinkering with her blog and lets us know how things are going. She lives very close to me, I know this from her photographs and it breaks my heart to think something awful might have happened to stop her communicating her wellbeing . . here's hoping.

  19. OOoooooo, I heard from Renee the other day! Seriously. I was looking for a parking space and there upon the back window of a pick up was a breast cancer pink bumper sticker that said F*** Cancer. I swear I heard a little HAR HAR. I had to drive back around to be sure I didn't imagine it. **kisses** Deb

  20. I find it completely unnerving when a blogger just disappears. Eventually I move them into my "probably defunct" folder of my reader and remain hopeful that one day they will reappear.

When I am taking a needed hiatus, I write a post saying so. Remember my blue-jeaned rear there for quite a while?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I like the way you have written this.
I'm curious and am now going over to visit with the mystery blogger.

I too wish them well as I wouldn't want any harm to come to any of our blogging buddies.

    best wishes always
    Robyn x

  22. Oh my I hope everything is okay. It seems so unlikely for something to be wrong, but i wonder why she hasn't written? I'm sending my prayers too kj, a friend of yours is a friend of mine.

  23. I didn't know Anon, either, but I hope she's alright.

I doubt I will ever quit blogging. And if I do, it will be due to some extreme crisis or other. But there will always be an explanation posted on my blog by someone in my family.

I hereby promise I will not just disappear, kj, I could not risk hurting you or others who visit my blog. xoxo to you, dear kj.

  24. I'm not anonymous ... and not planning to disappear. I love how you're like a good strong glue KJ! We all need good strong glue (aka faithful friends) in our lives. Thank you! :)
