.
There are two women in this photo. One is my Jessica and the other is her best friend Janna. One is excited and carefree, having parasailed before, and the other is a tad nervous up there, high in the air for the first time. ( I as Mother was not informed of this adventure in advance, which was a good and wise plan, actually.)
.
.
Doesn't the body language tell you who's who?!
.
.
This got me thinking (yet again!). Sometimes the time is right to raise your arms wide and high overhead and let it rip.
..
And sometimes it's all you can do to hold on as tight as hell and hope for the best.
..
Interesting: either way, the view can be quite lovely.
.
.A thought for the day:
.
A ship in harbor is safe, but it doesn't see anything....

Wise quote. I have been in the harbor too long! I love that photo!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
annie, ♥! time to put the sails up?
ReplyDeleteThe girls are adorable. Love the picture. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat sentiment in this post. Could be my affirmation for the day, once I go to bed and wake up.
ReplyDeletep.s. - in the little thumbnail shot in my blogroll I thought I might be looking at a floppy rabbit on that ride!
Oh now you're guilting me out! I thought that might have been you and JP screaming for 5kms before you hit landfall! I am planning my trip with a toyboy so look out! (I'm so full of shit) Well the best laid plans no?
ReplyDeleteAh, but there is a view in the harbor. It is of land, and it is so lovely and tranquil. LOL! I have to say, I would be the one not as carefree, and I would be screaming at the top of my lungs. Yours chickenly, Pam
ReplyDeletewow, these guys are really brave. yes, i think I'd rather be informed after the fact about such an adventure. thanks for the quote.
ReplyDeletesilver, i couldn't believe they did this! i love the picture too--it says so much :)
ReplyDeletelydia, hmmmmmm.......
baino, your trip is going to be FANTASTIC. and don't worry: i'll be plenty sedentary with you around here! xoxo
pam, you can be double damn sure i would be screaming at the top of my lungs too. i can't imagine i could muster the will to even put the straps on! and as for the view: perspective is everything! xoxo
suki, hahaha, i was suprised before, during and after :)
Very interesting! Great eye and I love the quote!
ReplyDeleteha ha!!!! Too funny! It reminds me of the time I went up in an ultralight over the Connecticut River to impress my ex-husband who still left me! It's a friggin hangglider with a lawnmower engine and you're wide open all all sides and below! Never, ever again in a million years.
ReplyDeleteBut you'll be happy to know that I'm laying plans to get out of the harbor. I inquired at the vet today for a sleepover petsitter ;) I have the card of a tech who loved Emma!
So there. We'll see ;)

Lo
♥
Wow - this looks like great fun...I would so do it!
ReplyDeleteAs one who used to regularly sail in and out of the Harbour, and now, seems to be anchored in one place, I know I need to find a way to "Lift Anchor" and learn to sail again.
Love, always,
♥ Robin ♥
Oh, wow, what daring girls!! I love that quote and have to say that there are days, I love being in the harbor and find plenty to amuse me there, and other days I love being out at sea, finding new things and expanding my horizons...
ReplyDeleteComing to your blog always feels like being in safe harbor to me - and that's a good thing!!
Much love, Silke
Jessica is brave if even a little aprehensive. Way to go girl!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post too!
Happy Happy Sisterfriend day kj,
I am so grateful for the women in my life that support me. I am really grateful you are one of those women.
Have a GREAT day.
Giant hugs.
don, thank you for your visit. i see you have an expertise of sorts in body language.
ReplyDeletelo, you and i are headed out of that harbor on many life excursions! and i'm thankful to have you as my scardy cat companion, which by the way means we are quite compatible!!! as for that ex-husband, baaaah!
robin, sign up here for sailing lessons: 3 cents a shot! you'll be
out in no time!! :)
me too, silke, haha reminds me of the saying 'sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug!" i like the cozy harbor too. and look around! we are hardly alone! :)
marie, likewise and ditto. we are all lucky ducks (right, pam?) and happy chickens. it quacks me up how clucking happy my blog friends make me!! :)
A good life, I think, has a nice balance of being at sail and being tucked safely into a harbor.
ReplyDeletecs, yes....wings and roots....
ReplyDeletexoxo
Though there is no desire for the this one top be on either plane or ship again, I wouldn't mind walking about in space for a bit.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter parasailed by herself during her 16th summer. And I KNEW about it and watched...yikes, I was more frightened than if I had been the one to do it! But she came down safely, and went on to do bungee jumping. I wasn't there for that one, thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo!
LOVE the quote perfect for spring time- time to move on and out - arms out stretched!
ReplyDeleteveri word is sinboxin!
So true!! What a perfect photo to demonstrate your contemplation! As much as I like the idea of flinging myself openly and fully into everything of life, I know it's wise, in certain circumstances, to move more guardedly. I strive to keep my heart open, behind the protection of my physical being! a thought provoking post - thanks!
ReplyDeletelove, Karin
oh dear i am so behind here! i wonder did jessica have fun in the end? great photo kj.
ReplyDeletethe quote reminds of the one i love by mark twain, throwing off the anchor, setting sail...
xoxo
