JB's Magic Cottage plus Peach Tree and Well Fed Robin :^)
We meet Chase the Greyhound tomorrow night. He has seizures and a thyroid condition and if all is well with him now, he may be our dog.
Welcome to Provincetown!
Not your average grocery store...
Ryan and Drew at the park next door
The local tapas bar
My friend Lo painted this for our friend Marianne upon the loss of her beloved cat Sjimmie. On the off chance you don't yet know her blog, it's worth the trip: Studio Lolo
Drew gets a haircut
lake inhabitants make intricate designs
and finally, my back yard, home to two chubby robins, two starlings, one yellow finch, too many chipmunks, happy zinnias, and one small rabbit.
This is not the summer I expected.
But it's mostly okay and sometimes great.
I'm at the tail end of writing a sad novel.
It affects me emotionally.
Which is probably a good thing.

Crossing my fingers for you and Chase! My dog has a bunch of Greyhound in her and she is truly the best dog I've ever known! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm nervous, Andrea . Partially because chase is already 'rescued' because he is in a loving foster home. I think about helping a dog in a shelter. Maybe two dogs! I saw a tiny dog at the city shelter and she trembled and was so scared. And i'm not so much into little dogs :-)
DeleteLove! kj
I got lost inside of each picture for a little while. Was right there. It is good that it is sad, the novel.. it's not easy to write sad, or to truly feel it sometimes. Both a blessing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Barbara. That is a nice compliment.
DeleteI don't know how the book will end. That is unsettling by itself. But I agree: better to feel than not

A sad novel is the release of harbored grief. I think it will be a good thing :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the non-average grocery store. Sooooo gonna facebook that pic! And hell yes...I would shop there are on the window signage alone!!!
Annie, I will welcome a release . I totally wonder how the muse and I will end the story xo
DeleteI hate to tell you that these grocery specials are part of an art exhibit. But I hope you FB the photo anyway :-)

I am happy when my own fiction makes me sad, because I know it isn't real and it's getting to me, so it gives me hope for the reader to believe. But no novels... yet :).
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comments. I look forward to our blogosphere friendship as well. Your style is warm and I like it over here.
Hello! Different challenge for me because some parts and emotions and characters in this book are real enough
DeleteDitto and likewise getting to know you too. We who write: &hearts
I'm getting that heart right: ♥ !!!
DeletePS Good luck on Chase!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope you get along with Chase. Poor critter; spent his life chasing rabbits for the bettors, and then tossed on a canine scrap heap. But an unwell dog is a bit of a challenge.
ReplyDeleteLove your list of "livestock": two chubby robins, two starlings, one yellow finch, too many chipmunks, happy zinnias, and one small rabbit. I assume the small rabbit is emily. (I know; dangerous to make assumptions, especially about emily.)
Mr bear: it seems that the life of a greyhound depends. Many are well treated because a happy secure dog will run faster. They can only race from 2 to 5 years old. Chase stopped in may. They are physically close dogs: push against you and other greyhounds quite affectionately. But they can never be off leash: they can reach 40 mph in seconds.
DeleteI'm letting destiny handle this one :-)

The painting of Marianne's cat Sjimmie is absolutely wonderful. I can imagine how pleased she is to have such a remembrance. And then you and JB are goint to have a new dog in da house. My goodness, what a beauty! I hope to read a lot of your adventures with Chase.
ReplyDeleteChase is going to be a very lucky fellow, that's for sure.
Hello my friend! Lo paints the inner and outer spirits of animals. I'm grateful for her
DeleteOne dog, maybe two. I'm taking JB to the shelter to see other dogs also who need care and kindness. I wish I could adopt a dozen :-)
Take care, wieneke ♥
It's funny how some images speak of happiness. I like seeing JBs feet ... they look like happy feet to me. Chase looks ready to have some adventures doesn't he/she? I am soooo looking forward to reading your next novel KJ. Big hug from here xx Jos
ReplyDeleteJos, I felt the same way seeing JB's feet :-). Thank you always for your encouragement on my book writing. It means alot to me

Hey Drew! Never let your hair go for something as cheap as a cookie! I's make the dude with clippers empty out the cash drawers and then go rob the bank before they'd get to cut mine.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on this one, mark!!!!! That first sentence made me laugh out loud

Love the photos....especially the one with the robins and zinnias!
ReplyDeleteAnd where is that small rabbit that lives in the yard....hmmmmmm....

Oh, I just love part five of your life! :) It looks so peaceful and colorful and fun!! I'm glad you are still writing!!
ReplyDeleteSending much love! Silke
Silke, I can't imagine NOT writing . My biggest challenge is time. Not enough . But I know that is so much better than time without purpose.
DeleteAs you already know :-)
♥
I'll have some of those Fresh Ideas please,,,I seem to have run out.
ReplyDeleteLovin' all your life photos, every one.
"Not the summer I expected"
I think that's been mostly true for all my summers,,,but some are even better than we could have expected, right?
The book will be just right when the time is just right, and maybe it will have 2 happy, happy dogs in it.
Sigh,,,,that Lo! What a painter of animal souls she is. So gifted!
Hello babs, I think fresh ideas need a slow simmer sometimes :-)
DeleteThe book may not be fit for public eyes. I hope that is not the case. There will come a time when I will read it through, as if it isn't mine , and I will know.....
♥
kj,
ReplyDeleteI like your happy zinnias and well fed robins.
I do hope Chase will be able to go to live with you, he looks like a lovely animal, and deserves a loving home. How nice that you may also get another dog, maybe it would be good for Chase to have another dog as a companion - and the small dog sounds like he is in need of a home.
Brenda
The zinnias dance, Brenda :-)
DeleteWe saw chase last night. He has medical issues for sure. We hope we can handle them. Fingers crossed
xoxo
chase will be one lucky dog. lovely photos all kj. and your book! it's all coming together, have you champagne chilling for the next bestseller?
ReplyDeleteHi lori, coming together I only hope! I won't know until I'm done
DeleteNo champagne for me, alas, but I drink this non alcoholic wine called Ariel and it works pretty well as a substitute xo
Next week, Lori!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a glorious backdrop for your writing. I can't wait to read the finished book. Live, love and be happy, sending lots of hugs from an 'Olympic mad' London.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, joss. I cam't wait for you to read it!!

I love the grocery store signs, and the robins of course.
ReplyDeleteEvery photo made me smile! For the art and the artistic...in life and still life!
ReplyDeleteHow could I forget to mention Chase?! Oh, it sounds like you have done your homework and know what responsibilities come along with having a Greyhound, and I smile to think of Chase being loved and adding that special something to your life, too. I am away at a conference and so rarely travel without my cats, that I feel a bit unsettled and odd in a hotel room without them...As they say, Pets Add LIfe!
