A night in a Boston hotel: 0

Some years ago JB and I bought a vacation timeshare which gave us a certain number of nights to stay anywhere in the world where Marriott has hotels, without having to pay anything more, not even a tax.
.
.
Friday night we headed to Boston (Brookline, actually) and just because we asked got upgraded to one of the corner room the Marriott calls its '21 rooms.' The 21's are larger, more luxurious, and each with a calm Asian design.

We had a great time in a great room with a great city view.

and a great breakfast.

And here's the best part of my weekend: On Saturday JB and I picked up our daughter Jess and Mr. Ryan and Not-so-Baby Drew and we headed back to our house for the weekend. No blogging or writing or emailing or telephoning when these little guys are around. It's exhausting joy.
.
.
.
Me: Ryan, that is a sculpture you and BB made outside with those icicles.
.
Ryan (age 4): What's a sculpture?
.
Me: It's something an artist does, Ryan. You're an artist, what you did with those icicles.
.
Ryan: no words, just a giant grin.....

Good for you guys braving the weather, making it your road to Beantown. GAH! on the icicles. I do like though that the kid made them into art that will melt away with time.
ReplyDeleteReady for more snow?
What magic. I was in the States in August/September and spent a warm week in Boston! What a beautiful city. Nothing like it is now!
ReplyDeleteI love your ice sculpture, and especially the joy of Ryan the artist.
Wow, what a nice hotel room!!
ReplyDeletehahaha, icicles! Ryan is a born arteest ;)
Brian throws snowballs up at our second story icicles to knock them down so they don't fall and pierce our skulls! It's funny to see people slowing down in their cars to watch him. He's such a boy!
And hey, big ice storm coming on Wednesday. More art for Ryan!
I'll email you later gator. Busy day!
xoxo
Lo♥
P.S. Did they ask you to keep your moans muffled at Mr. Sushi??
mark, no medal for braving the weather. the roads are very clear and the snowbanks are now easier to navigate. art that melts away? oh god, that's us too!
ReplyDeletelittle acorn :)
boston is a terrific city. i'm glad you had a warm good time. i am beginning to read your older posts so perhaps i will read about your visit there. xo
♥lo, i can SEE brian throwing those snowballs. i jsut love how much you love who he is and what he does. as for mr. sushi, lo, you know i try to be discreet. i did rock to and fro a bit, i admit, but no one asked me to tone it down and i left soooo satisfied.....
Glad you had a lovely time away and the icicle story is adorable.
ReplyDeleteWow so much fun kj, you really did have a weekend! the room is beautiful, and your photos are great! i like boston and breakfast away too.
ReplyDeleteand ryan the icicle artist is so adorable. i've never seen such a sculpture. i'm so glad you all had the ♥ time together.
lots of love,
lori
You surely have great days.
ReplyDeleteI want to thanks for your enlightening comment. Yes, first accept and then decide. This is the reason i don't like toleration, toleration means I think you are wrong but I allow you to do so. Honestly I accept first because that causes less struggle in the heart.
Lovely, happy post. Wonderful room, lucky you! Love the sculpture :-). Breakfast is my favorite on the road meal too. Yesterday after weeks of no carbs or sugar Becky treated me to a wonderful breakfast I had French toast Yum. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOooh I love staying in hotels as well, we have a Marriot or two here you know? Love the icicles, could have done with one of those down the cleavage yesterday it was 42 degrees - Celsius!
ReplyDeletethanks lynn. your california weather can't even imagine this, right? xo
ReplyDeletelori, i never think of you having been in boston. i like that thought! ryan the icicle artist is such a great title!!!! see how clever you are? lots of love to you too Ssf. ♥
shubhajit, yes, i like that approach too. first accept, then decide. it doesn't work so well if i do it the other way around, which is what most of us actually do do. thanks for your always interesting comments my friend. xo
annie, no carbs, no sugar? as it south beach? i am watching those carbs myself, no fun but important. good for you. i love how we all like breakfast on the road. what a great start to the day! xo
hells, thinking of one of those icicles down your cleavage has me rolling on the floor: AHAHHAHAHA!
I LOVE MY BLOG FRIENDS. THEY LEAVE THE BEST COMMENTS EVERY TIME :#)
What a wonderful trip this sounds like KJ!!!!!! I love you do things like this together!
ReplyDeleteHow do you get in a time share like this???

Pattee

ReplyDeletelove that ryan...
Glad to see you had a good time ! :-)
ReplyDeletewonderful you had time away from home in fun Boston. Love the icicle sculpture. and the time with your dear ones sounds delicious.
ReplyDeletepattee, the marriot vacation club offers tours and soft pedaled marketing of their timeshares just about everywhere. goggle them. JB and i are not formal hotel travelers, but for the most part this timeshare has worked great for us and the family xo
ReplyDeletemim, are you worried about your roof? JB knocked a ton of icicles off this morning but the next round is supposed to be HEAVY snow. geez louise. ♥
sidney, this compared to pier 18 is pretty shocking, eh?
suki, i love jess and her family so much it hurts. it's good to love like that. xoxo
The little things are HUGE.
ReplyDeleteJust when I thought I couldn't smile any bigger because of the great getaway and cool upgrade, there's Ryan's sculpture. My face just about broke, my smile was so big.
