The absolute best book I've read on how to write is by Stephen King (of all people!). He advises to chop and drop the adjectives and adverbs and let the nouns and verbs tell the story. So perhaps I was thinking of him when this prayer found its way to my head and pen a few weeks ago:
.I've done my part.
You've done yours.
.
Thank you.
Just checking in before I run out the door.
ReplyDeleteThis is just enough.
Wonderful.
Perfect!
My friend (a writer) loves loves loves that book and was also shocked by how much she got out of it!

ReplyDeletelolo,
ReplyDeletehb,
kay,
THANKS!
I think when I read MISERY I realized how Stephen King organizes and writes...just like his hero. He had also described his approach on TV once upon a time.
ReplyDeleteThe prayer is perfect and one I will remember.
Wow!!! It brings tears to my eyes...
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of this one by Dag Hammarskjold:
For all that has been,
Thanks!
For all that will be,
Yes!
Always love,
Maithri
I've been writing Haikus trying to use more adjectives and adverbs, less nouns and verbs. - We could trade words to balance things out. (chuckle)
