# 9 Blogland Lane

.
Isn't this swell? This is my new house at #9 Blogland Lane. I'm virtually moving in today along with my partner JB, my dog Stella, and I hope you'll join me there.
.
My place is kind of modern with a kitchen big enough for three people to cook in at one time, a living room with a large sectional couch and dozens of comfy sofa pillows, a chrome and formica kitchen table and chairs from the '50's, and a dining room with all the walls filled with the art of all my friends but also that of Provincetown artists Robert Cardinal and Chet Jones.
.
There are four bedrooms that provide plenty of room for guests, a sunroom overlooking a large yard that has room for a swimming pool, a patio for grilling and stretching out, a backyard hot tub, and my very shed studio and writing room, decorated in salmon colored walls and funky flowered curtains. Look at all the bookcases in that room, filled from top to bottom with all my favorite books.
.
I'm leaving the kitchen door open most of the time and when I'm home I'll be happy when friends stop by. I hope that lolo and Baino live next door or close by, and I want to be able to reach everyone else on Blogland Lane by riding my spiffy bycycle. I also want to be able to get to Renee for a few minutes at a time, just enough to wave a smile and get a harhar back.
Will you join me? Please! Here are the details:
.

  2. OK honey but my block is looking a bit wintery and wan. I'll play on the weekend. It's late in the antipodes but yep. I'm up for Blogland Lane! Where the door is always open and the fridge full of champagne. And my kitchen? That's where the action takes place but we eat and drink OUTSIDE (when it's warm and sunny mind - one month to go and the heaters are relegated to storage - can't wait)

  3. It is a lovely place to live in! Really really soothing, calm and oh, I very much like the idea of rooms, and other things.

  5. Well, talk about SERENDIPITY! Gosh! I'm staggered...check out what I've just posted!

I would love to live on Blogland Lane, kj, thank you for the invitation. Our house will be that one....there...right on the beach, see? With a verandah that stretches all the way round and where the front door is always open to allow the salt air to waft in and my friends to drift in and out as they please. I will bake bread and gather herbs and fresh fruit and there will be cheeses and wine to drink, or coffee or tea or juices of all varieties - just help yourselves.

The house will be small and all the rooms will open onto the verandah or the garden. The floors will be old seasoned timber and the ceilings high. There will be soft rugs to laze on and fat sofas to sprawl on. There will be paintings galore because a room hung with pictures is a room hung with thoughts. And books - hundreds of books....

    Hmmmm...bliss. Thank you kj!

  8. Karen, my house is up on my blog and I built it on the lot next door to you. I hope you don't mind. Some might call it an eyesore, but I've wanted to live in this house forever and ever and it's my fantasy dream house. Should I ever win the lottery, I'm going to replicate it down to the last piece if gingerbread trim! LOL! Thanks, that was fun.

BTW, I love your house. It looks very cozy and inviting! Now come over and see my place!! Hugs and Blessings.

  9. Oh, this is just what I need to get me going in real life too-I'm trying to arrange etc. First I'll do it here, and maybe it will tell me what's really important.

In Junior HIgh I almost flunked out of drafting because we were to design a house and I designed a fabulous stable with a bedroom off one end, and a bathroom. It wasn't the stable part that I got in trouble for-it was the lack of kitchen...Mr.Whatever his name said I didn't take it seriously. He just didn't know me that well.

  11. Hello Karen and other neighbours to be,
Next weekend I will show you my house, it is the bungalow at Blogland Lane 30. At this moment there are some decorators busy so it is a bit of a mess. But they promised me to be ready tomorrow evening.
    Greetings!

  12. I love your new home, kj.
I'll be building very soon. It will be very near your place and you'll know it right away, as it will be called: 'The Wander Inn Studio'
and the flag flying will say: "BYOD" (bring your own dreams)
I will have an open studio from which you can choose paintings to adorn your walls. They will be more glorious than anything I've ever dreamed of painting.
    Dreams for all.
    I like that.

  13. this is so much fun KJ. If i had to construct a home right now it would have to be a sort of brainless thing like a tent. Maybe folks would let me take turns setting it up on their land. I would love to stop by your place and atake a swim in the pool.

  49. KJ! Where have I been? Well, not here, clearly. I saw the invitation at m's blog (secret notebooks wild pages) and thought I'd pop across.
I think someone did this Blpgland Road thing way back, when I was a new blogger and I chose a converted rice barge, in southern India.
Well...what would I have today? Hmm...might have to give it some deep and meaningful!
It's a bit too cold in my open-plan -built-for-the-tropical-summer house to stay up much later.
Oh yeah...I see Emily is as lippy as ever!
Back soon with a spectacular new house!

  51. KJ and other neighbours.... I am ready for your visit at Blogland Lane (in Dutch 'laan') no. 30. I have not translated the text in English, but you can see for yourself that my house is small and very comfy. All I need is downstairs but upstairs I have a nice guestroom. I have invited all my Dutch blogfriends to join us. In the meantime: the coffee with the real Dutch applepie is waiting in the garden for you.

    ReplyDelete
  52. HAHA, I'm such a ditz. I just went over to Wieneke bless her soul and the site is in Dutch . . her last para translated on Babel as

"Do me a pleasure and communicate just as in my response box if you have moved into also a house to the Bloglandlaan. Then I come by just as with welkomstbloemetje and for a bucket koff"

I have to go and learn how to make bucket koff! She's already visited!

Does anyone know how I can translate her site into sensible English?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi Kj kettle's on at no 53*!*

    ReplyDelete
  54. @Baino: Hahaha, yes, I just tried Babelfish myself and I am also laughing my head off. A bucket !!! Well, a 'welkomstbloemetje' is a bunch of flowers to welcome new neighbours and a 'bakje' is a normal size cup. I am certainly not a coffee addict. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi KJ wow you have a lot of response to this post. I finally got my tent up on blogland lane. I am not good with mechanical things like this. So ya'll can see my place at sukipoet.blogspot.com. I dont reallly want to live in a tent, but this is all my brain/imagination can handle right now.

Sorry, I need to keep it a little secret.
may be I just share my creative space instead!

  66. It seems awesome, thanks for the invitation, I would be more than happy to stay for a couple of days, of course I hope I do not get on your nervs and we get along pretty well.

    ReplyDelete
  67. renee, of course you're 9 and 3/4.

this brilliant idea was actually the creation of a blogger named caroline smailes several years ago. i'm amazed how it's taken off among us now. it warms my already warm heart.

renee and everyone else, are you thinking what i'm thinking: now what??

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. kj thank you for everything.

Now No. 9 and 3/4 is already there, but only certain people can see it.

If you haven't seen it yet, then you just have to squint a little harder. Only people who believe can see 9 and 3/4. I know you can see it kj. I believe that you can.

I will give others that can't see it a peek in the near future.

    Love Renee xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  69. Okay, Karen, I've created my perfect place! Please say you'll come visit me.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ok, KJ...this is sooo making me want to have a retreat with all of the people on Blogland Lane, I can almost taste it.

One nice offshoot of this is that I am visiting (and bookmarking like leaving breadcrumbs to follow) so many blogs I never would have gone to, because I know that if they'd like to live on the lane and took time out from their busy day to set aside reality and live in the moment, that they are just the kind of people I'd enjoy being around!

    You are a wonderful "facilitator"

    ReplyDelete
  71. What a brilliant idea.

Just give me a patch of blue water to put my sailboat. ;)

My friend... in regards to Swaziland... If you can get there (and let me know in advance)... I'll work out the rest.

    Much love, M

    ReplyDelete
  72. Why Miss Emily I'm greatly surprised that Harry didn't tell you that the box was yours to take home and enjoy, for ever, and ever and ever once more.

I think young Harry has a plan for you to call on him again and when you do, remind him that he does have a box, (several in fact), of his own from the magical land of downunderoz*!*

    ReplyDelete
  73. Wow! Now I have to search through many napkins for a proper depiction of the estate of Slug's Rest. Thank you for the invitation, rabbits are so very clever! Hop, or slide on over to see what #77 Slugland Lane has cooked up for this evening. I know it will likely be a surprise, even to me! It is so nice to see so many of my bloggy friends living in this neighborhood. This reminds me of my childhood, when my friends knocked on the door and then ran behind a bush and giggled. So - Instead of playing "ring and run", today I will play "comment and slide!"

    Very truly yours,
    Mrs. Slug

  74. Hello KJ, hope you don't mind total strangers from foreing countries moving to Blogland Lane... ? If number 524 is still available, I'd like to claim it. My home at 524 is a very un-pretentious, ancient, humble little place, but with just enough space to entertain new friends in... so please come by for the housewarming party, there's plenty of champagne in the fridge, and fois gras on toast for starters...

Right now it is at the top of my blog page, but as it will no doubt be sliding down as new posts go up, it is here :

    http://magiclanternshowen.blogspot.com/2009/08/524-blogland-lane-welcome.html

What a great idea, will be curious to see how things develop. How are you going to manage the zoning regulations and attributions of street numbers ? I'm sure we wouldn't want total chaos to prevail on Blogland Lane... or would we ??? :-D
