New York: Buildings and Signs

.

. .
.
Emily, do you mind if I use the blog Wednesday so I can post more about New York?
.
WAAAAAAAA!
.
Please Emily, just this one time. I want to show the buildings and signs I saw there.
.
WAAAAAAA!
.
I would give you $ 5 if you would agree not to have a temper tantrum.
.

WAAAA WAA WA Well.......
.
.
And so it came to be that kj's pictures of New York City trumped Emily Rabbit's suspicious but not really cocaine jelly bean story this one time:

New York City: Big & Tall

.

.
.

.
This is a brief introduction to the BIGNESS of New York City. This is in and around Times Square, which is not the neighborly villages of Soho or Tribeca or Greenwich Village.
.
.

I'm starting with Times Square because that is where JB and I and our two good friends stayed. On the 39th floor. We walked six blocks to Broadway and cabbed eight blocks to the Modern Museum of Art. We took a carriage ride around Rockefeller Center and saw where Matt Lauer and Meredith Vierra work.
.
.

I have some stories to tell, including the unlikely romance of Ms. Tabasco and Mr. Ketchup, but that is for another day.
.
.

Today is just about BIG. (Oh, and I'm glad to be back. I missed us.)

The Big Ball...

.
.
.
.
My new discovery--The Book of Knowledge from 1946--is announcing that I will be gallivanting around the Big Ball of Life for the weekend, celebrating a friend's birthday, seeing a play on Broadway, eating oh eating, taking a carriage ride through Central Park, visiting the New York City Modern Museum of Art, and--heart be still!!!--heading for Foxwoods Casino to play the quarter slot machines.
.
.
I am the poor girl's version of a one armed bandit cultured intellectual.
.
.
I may sneak a comment into your blog but no posts for me until the other side of this Big Ball.
.
.
Happy weekend to the most wonderful people,

Animal Wednesday: Emily's Private Garden

.
Hello everyone, it's me Emily. This week I am going to show you MY garden, which I planted all by myself.
.
Would you believe I got in trouble with kj because I used the knives from the kitchen to hold up the seed packets so I would know what I planted where? kj said people use wooden sticks, not knives, but how would I know that since I am a rabbit and not a person and besides the knives worked perfectly and kj has other knives--it's not like I used them all--so what is the problem?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

.

Now I will show you everything up close. Lololo gave me all the seeds and Sonia gave me the ones that will be giant lollipops.

.

So far everything is coming along very nice, except the chocolate upside down cake, which hasn't come up yet. I will show you pictures when it does, and don't believe kj if she tells you it won't because I know it will. She can be such a negative nelly, don't you think? (It's not my fault if your name is Nelly and you think I am insulting you because I really don't even know what the phrase means).

.

.

.

.

,

,

This is the one kj is a negative nelly about
.

Thank you if you are impressed that I am planting my own garden. Even though I am little, I am not afraid to invest in doing things that involve jelly beans and lollipops and upside down cake because let's face it: if you stop and think about it, what could make anyone happier than that? And what could be wrong with anyone who does things that make them happy as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, and my garden definitely doesn't, right?

.

Oh, and one more thing. I heard JB ask kj how she could tell if something is a plant or a weed. I told JB to yank it up hard and fast and if it comes out of the ground when she yanks, it is a plant. kj said that was a bad idea, but don't ask me why; I'm just passing it on in case you appreciate my advice more than kj and JB do.

Yours Truly,

Emily Rabbit

P.S. kj says I should tell you that lololo designed the seed packets her very self, which is very true.

Wonder Questions & Wonder Years

.
.

.
..
.
Blogger deleted this post so I am rewriting it. #@@%&**.
.
.
I have spent the last three days at my parents' house, again sorting and emptying so that my brother and I can rent or sell it.
.
.
In a small bookcase in the corner of the living room all my life there have been the only educational books my Mother ever bought: a series called The Books of Knowledge, written from 1946 through 1949..
.
.
Today I couldn't stop looking at the illustrations and a section called "Wonder Questions": How do fireworks get their colors? Why do I dream? Why does a falling object turn around?
.
I will be showing and telling more about the Book of Knowledge in the weeks to come.
.
.

.

This was my clubhouse..

.
No ventilation.
.
.
Too many cobwebs.
.
.
But, still.....
.
.

..

. .
.
. .
.
.
My Father had his own room down cellar. I expected to find money hidden there, but so far, nothing. I'm cleaning your room out, Dad: I have too. Please don't mind. Dad, have you met my friend, Renee yet? Please look for her. She is very special. .
.

. .
.

..

.
.
And After all...
.
.
I'm finding I am still the child I was.

Anonymous Bird

.
.
.
.
.
.

.

.

On August 5, 2008 King Jack the regal Parrot became Queen Jackie. This was determined by the surprise discovery of a rather large white egg in his, ah her, cage, uncovered by King Jack's owner, Anonymous Bird.

.
This is the same regal parrot who had Anon and all her blog friends worried sick when he went missing, escaping outside and gone for days before, finally, being spotted and rescued. We all breathed a collective sigh of huge relief.

.

On August 5, 2008, Anonymous Bird, a one-of-a-kind Australian blogger with a wonderful wit and a penchant for photographing the most amazing birds, went missing herself. It was not anticipated by her parting comment that she would disappear:
..

"We're going off line and then spasmodically posting for a bit. Don't know when we'll be back but will catch up to your blogs when it happens. Apologies for not catching up before leaving."

Anonybird and Queen Jackie.
.
.
Despite the warmth and openness of her blog, Anonymous Bird made sure she was anonymous. Now, almost two years later, there are 180 comments waiting for her, http://www.birdanonymous.blogspot.com/, all of us worrying about her and wanting to know she is safe.

.

I don't believe she just stopped blogging.
.
.

And like Renee, Anon was one of those special people in life who you just looked forward to hearing from, who made you laugh with her irrepressible intelligence and silliness and warmth.
.
.
Two days ago something changed on Anon's blog. Two days ago, after 178 comments that have been automatically saved and unanswered, suddenly, comment moderation has been added.
..
.
THERE IS ACTIVITY.
.
.
SOMEBODY HAS CHANGED THE SETTINGS ON ANON'S BLOG.
.
.
Annie (Bimbimbee, a terrific blog friend who also loves birds) and I are cautiously holding each other up and holding out hope. I can think of nothing I would like more than to know Anon is okay.
.
.
Today, Annie left the following comment on Anon's blog:
.
.

Dearest Queenie Jacquelinie
it's been quite some time
since Grandma Anony
closed a pool party.
Loving salutations
regularly bestowed
at your nest door
grow in number
by the score.
Yet not one
BWARK! or TSUP!
do you utter
We shake our heads
and fluff our feathers
not deterred
we leave an other
for you to read
at your leisure.
A change has
been detected
which brings forth
a smile of pleasure
for hope is
rekindled
now we realise
our Queenie Jacqueline
has her wings
upon the dashboard ...

Tsup! Tsup! Honk!
The Society of Queen Jackie
.
.

We could use your good wishes and prayers that Anonymous Bird and Queen Jackie are alive and well. And if you don't mind, a little extra prayer that she will let us know that.
.
.
And if you don't mind my own prayer: please don't just disappear. Almost two years later, I still think of Anon often and I smile with her whenever I visit her blog. I miss her dearly. There is love in these here blogs: in some connected and real way, we're in this together.
.
.
Love
kj
.

Love you, Anon....tsup!

Animal Wednesday: Emily Rabbit Teaches Balance

.
.

.
It's me, Emily! Do you see me?
.

I am moving fast over the fence

while I keep my balance!

.
A long time ago I promised to write something for Marion of http://www.mysteahag.blogspot.com/ and I am finally doing it because kj keeps reminding (nagging) me about it so I thought, 'okay Emily, why not keep your promise this one time and maybe next time Marion will believe you again and that would be nice."
.
Marion asked me to write about BALANCE.
.
I don't think she meant the kind in gymnastics or rocket science so instead I am going to give you an example of good balance and bad balance and if you follow the example you will stay on the good side of things.
.
First I will tell you that even though I am a little rabbit, I know that the petals on most flowers and even on vegetables are pretty much the same size. That's BALANCE, right?
.
But some people let some of their petals get huge and they let other petals get puny. Here's what a person's flower would look like if they didn't pay attention:

..

.

And then there is me! See how balanced my flower is! Okay, maybe the "chore' one gets small sometimes and the fun one gets too big, but I am trying to teach you about balance so would you please just believe that this is my flower and most of the time every petal is about the same size.

So this is all you need to know about BALANCE.

Right, Marion?

Sincerely Yours,

Emily Rabbit
