On Wednesday I began an uninterrupted two and a half week vacation in Provincetown. I have been here almost every week for most of the summer, but this time there will be no driving back and forth to my job: just settling in with with JB, my dog Stella, my micron pen, colored pencils, camera, laptop computer, and the time and means to write at least 50 pages (I hope) of novel # 2.
.
For the last four days my favorite daughter Jessica, my favorite son-in-law Mike, and my favorite Mr. Ryan and Baby Drew have been here with us. We vacation well together: all of us easily falling into each day as we like, allowing for time together, time alone, time for Jess and Mike to enjoy themselves without the kids, time for JB and I and Mr. Ryan and Stella to take our shoes off before anyone else is up and walk a block to low tide to linger in the sparkling ocean bay.
.
All of these photos were taken in the last four days. Forgive me for not arranging them in an order that is either logical or poetic, but blogger is not happy when I try to reshuffle pictures, and today I am just too relaxed to care.
.
So here is my family vacation so far. Jess et al left this morning but God willing we'll be recreating memories like this every year from now on. And now it's two weeks ahead of finding whatever rhythm finds me.
.
KJ, these are beautiful! I was in such a dreamy state browsing through the photos and then there was Baby Drew. I laughed out loud-that look on his face is priceless! Babies are the best. Enjoy your time off, although it would be hard not to in those surroundings. You might want to try windows live writer. It is a free blogging program and very user friendly and the photos stay where you place them and even offers editing your photos right on the page. http://download.live.com/writer
ReplyDeleteKaren, such fabulous photos! All of them. I hope you have a wonderful time and get a lot of work done on your book.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think of Renee and pray for her and her family daily. She needs our strength so much right now....Love & Blessings, dear friend....
Lucky you to spend all this time by the ocean and with your loved ones. Have fun writing and playing and just being too. 50 pages is quite a goal. All the kids are sweet, but baby Drew also took me into the realms of delight. Love that T-shirt too. Happy Birthday to you. Have a drink at Napi's on me :)
ReplyDeleteGood to be able to spend some quality time with your family. And enjoy the simple things like getting you feet wet.
ReplyDeleteI need to get my feet wet one of these days. Haven't done that yet this summer and I live so close to the sea.
What a beautiful place to be, and what a gorgeous family!
ReplyDeleteA lovely family, beach and blog. Hello, I am a fellow novelist and found your page through Amazon. I love your 'about me' words....and agree.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely and relaxing and HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear friend :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I so wish I was on holiday instead of putting on the corporate garb each Monday! Baby Drew is a serious lad now! He looks like he's chastising you for publishing his photo!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, (and I know you can hear me say that!) I can't wait to come to PTown and spend some time with you and JB and Stella Lou. (May I call her that? I like middle names for dogs!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. Jess looks blissful! And those cute boys ;)
I love the photo of the shoes lined up. It's all about connection, and what Jess bought you says it all.
hey, Suki mentioned Napi's. I'm there!
Happy birthday dear friend. This is the beginning of a long and fun friendship. And if you keep sending me carnations and mums I may have to rethink that ;P
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!
That's a 'deep from the belly' kind of laugh ;)
xoxoxoxo

ReplyDeletemarion, the fun is easy. the 50 plus pages may or may not be!
suki, 'the realms of delight'--what a great phrase. and that is pretty much accurate regarding baby drew. how great it is to love children. !
peter: THIS IS AN ORDER: GET YOUR FEET WET! AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I AM GOING TO CHECK TO BE SURE YOU DO. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. xo
The pictures speak for themselves, wonderful relaxation and lovely kids. I wish you all the best for the new life year, Karen. Enjoy the rest of your holidays together. Greetings for JB too, and a good backrubbing for Stella from me.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, KJ. What a beautiful spot to celebrate with your family. I admire Ryan's peace sign and the interesting murals on the boat house. Provincetown looks marvelous.
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns of the day!!!
ReplyDeleteBaby Drew..look at his face! I like the concept of long holiday and write 50 pages..that's good..
All the people I have seen their blogs that are part of this new blog lane community seem to me amazing, really nice persons, and people that makes life worth living.
ReplyDeleteYou included in it
A beautiful place to relax. Your family is beautiful and Baby Drew is too cute.
ReplyDeleteMagical! I am jonesing for the ocean right now. Probably has something to do with all this heat. It is wearing my resolve not to complain about the weather.

ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't know! A belated but very happy birthday to you!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the joy of kids on a beach? I like Drew's little peace onesie.
Happy birthday! You didn't say which one--ha.
ReplyDelete"are you going to claim a plot of land on blogland lane? i think you should...."
My understanding is that Blogland Lane is an idyllic virtual community in which the members turn their attention to their fantasies about what an actual idyllic house within an actual idyllic community would be like, and to their relations to one another within that community. While I am not opposed to the idea, I should think it would require a great deal of time, yet I am spending more and more time just keeping up with my blog and the blogs of other people. This leaves me in doubt about what I would have to offer. Maybe if I knew more about what was expected. All I know is that I would be obliged to post a picture of my dream house--or at least my lot. Oh, yeah, and that barky, snappy dogs are not allowed; I have one of each--ha! Of course, they're getting pretty old, so I suppose I could wait until they died.
See you at midnight.
ReplyDeleteLove Renee xoxox
Renee "See you at midnight."
ReplyDeleteOkay, Renee, but we can't go on arranging our trysts through KJ's blog--Peggy is getting suspicious, and she will be out of prison on that murder rap any day now.

ReplyDeletecs, i love relaxing at the beach and hearing the near and far sounds of children's voices. it's one of my favorite things. xo
dearest snowbrush, hahaha! the only thing that would be required of you is your good humor, which you have in abundance. you don't have to show up any more than you want to. and i'm sure soulbrush did not mean YOUR yippy little dogs. but what's this about you meeting renee at midnight? when the clock strikes twelve she's mine, snowbrush, mine, mine, mine!
(oh maybe not, i forgot to ask renee. see how assumptions get one in trouble?) xo
