The Lesson of the Five Balls

Hidden in a sappy novel by James Patterson called Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas, a story of a young mother with cardiac trouble, lies a gem called the Lesson of the Five Balls.
.
.
The five balls pretty much sum up what’s important in life.
.
Four of the balls are made of glass. They are breakable. But the fifth ball is made of rubber.
.
Work is flexible. It can rebound. But this is not always true of your family. Or your friends. Or your health or your integrity. These balls must be handled carefully and gently.
.
But work? Work is a rubber ball.

  1. Is that why I'm always getting smacked in the head with it? ;)

  2. Indeed it is, and I've bounced around from one to another enough to know so. Hey, if I'm the one bouncing then that would make me the rubber ball, wouldn't it? Hmmm....let me go rethink this statement.

  3. And this is of course absolutely right. And yet sometimes we think it is the most important thing.

  4. How do leave a comment about someone's balls without sounding...well, what I meant was it's how you handle your balls that counts, scratch that, eww, i mean if you aren't careful you could easily break your balls, i mean bust them... well, (gulp) I see your point.

  5. I find that one of the difficult things in life is that there is the ideal that friends and family are rubber balls--that one should be very flexible with them and such.

  6. This is absolutely a good post for my next Friday Zapservice!! I want more of my visitors to read these very wise words. The workball is important, oh yes, but the other ones are far more important.

  7. It takes balls to always follow through on that (sorry). You're right, of course, sometimes we are so caught up in the "doing", we lose sight of simply "being". Thanks for the reminder, I think that puts a lot in to perspective, doesn't it?

  26. Metaphysics is facts. The thought system of the Holy Spirit is completely logically consistent, as is the thought system of the ego. There is absolutely no room for interpretation. What is "true" can easily be determined by looking at the logical structure of what has happened and where things fit. If you master the metaphysics, you will be able to extrapolate the logical thought system to explain absolutely anything in its correct perspective.
What happens after the separation from God is completely 100% logical. Everything that happens after separation must happen, and it must happen in a very specific way. The results of separation are not diverse or one option amongst numerous. There is only one way to separate, there is only one scenario which comes about when separation seems to have happened, and there is only one outcome.ACIM
