I am way behind on comments kj and todayI have to be across town by 9 to tutor my 6 year old but I wanted to say to you ... don't worry about my anger at the things I write about. I am not depressed I am Detroit. The angriest city in America and to be honest if the rest of the middle isn't going to get totally hosed by both sides of the political masters then everyone better get walking Detroit down the hall if you catch my drift.
ReplyDeleteKj - love the second one, and the one from Faulkner. I've been doing some thinking about the past, can you tell? LOL! xox Pam
ReplyDeletePS Is the second one from Lily Tomlin?
ReplyDeleteinspiring quotes and as several have said #2 is especially wonderful. love your new kitchen!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe past is never dead, but occasionally you have to kick it in the ass hard to REMIND it that it should be! (Anne's unauthorized version)
ReplyDeleteJuggling cats is a bad idea; it's not just the claws you have to watch out for. (Anne)
And one from my grandfather, a farmer and full of WIT, referring to stupidity:
"They wouldn't know horseshit from applebutter with a hand full of each....."
That sums up a lot of people I meet....
That's it, my minuscule contribution for humor! :-D
XXOO~~
Anne
Great quotes - both from you and Anne!
ReplyDeleteLove,
♥ Robin ♥
p.s. The kitchen looks great!!!!!
yes, put me down for the second one also. And I like the one about vocation too. One of the things I have always said since making my work be the things I love to do is, "When what you love to do becomes your work, it changes it."
ReplyDeleteI still love to do what I love to do though ;)
Happy Tuesday PP!
xo
lo♥
Great quotes! I personally love the one about "foolish things" and the one about "love and flying for laundry" :) Just last week I posted 5 quotes on the breakroom wall for my staff(and me). One quote is by Emerson, and this quote I have posted on the door of my house so I can see it as I come and go. I'll share it! And thanks for sharing yours :)
ReplyDelete"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense" ~Emerson
kj~ How did you come up with this list?! I hadn't heard of any of them, but they are all challenging... "Forgiveness is the release of all hope for a better past." In other wrords, go forward; don't dredge up past history. That is a very good one to work on. Thank you! xxox
ReplyDeletelove all of these, but the one about not giving a sword to a man who can't dance is truly inspired ;-)
ReplyDelete"You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm" (Colette).
ReplyDeleteThats me..always doing foolish things..I just pray I do them with enthusiasm..
They are all wonderful Kj!!Hugs,Cat
barbara, i read that quote over three times when i happened upon it and each time more slowly....
ReplyDeletemarianne, hello!i'm glad to know you're back and ready for coffee and the garden xoxo
mark, thank you. the fact that you are tutoring and hanging with a six year old tells me all i need to know ♥
pam, me too: the quote from the little book of tarot has explained some past bewilderment and it's time to let go xoxo
ah suki, give me my cabinet space back! but the kitchen is going to be a nice improvement, a better flow, a clearer view.
anne, your minuscule contribution is always welcomed! xoxo

ReplyDeletelo, it changes it how? i hope in a deeper more fulfilling way. i've never been able to do a job well if i wasn't committed to it. happy tomorrow pp ♥
tim, "Finish each day and be done with it." that is such sage advice. we carry so much worry and stress from one day to another. wouldn't it be good to be able to just pick up an eraser each night and come morning only the best would be waiting? ♥
hello dear margaret, i often write things i like in my moleskine and that includes quotes from famous and infamous friends!
amanda of don't-cry-for-me-fame, i like that one too... :^)
that's me too, cat. and you know what? i think the enthusiasm may make up for the foolish part :^)
Thanks for posting kj - always like to read a good quotation - something to mull over!
ReplyDeleteI love the last one best (and the commentary)
ReplyDeletei like that note from kj best. :-) at the end.
ReplyDeletecaroline, i'm kind of an expert at mulling; fortunately not all the time!
ReplyDeletemim, hello sis! i always remember that: work is a rubber ball....

I like the one by Susan. It's really true - ultimately you have to do what you have to do.
