No no this is not a chimney. And not a smoke stack. Not of any sort.
What are you thinking? Don't jump. No need to jump. Not tonight, not tomorrow.
See my flicker? My steady flame? I am here to show you, I and the moonlight,
that despite the chill of a hazy night
that bridge beckons.
What's the harm?
Even maps can take you the wrong way, you know.
Sometimes you might as well use the light
Where and how you find it.

Deletesmiles....a bit of light can be a good thing for sure...and if provided def use the maps....smiles..
ReplyDeleteDefinitely use the maps? Brian, I like how clear your perspective is. I was thinking about the story with your son yesterday and I saw the two scenes so clearly. You know that's the sign of a good writer :-)

Kj...good to see this, how goes p town?
ReplyDeleteDoing fine, Chris. My mother fell so that makes knowing I'm snugly here aliittle more iffy. But so far I am in heaven. Fiddled with 6 pages of rewrites mornings, beach and ocean afternoons, dinner and gallivanting evenings. And then too I blog and color :-)

It is a spare and sparse piece that certainly conveys the image of hope for the hopeless. Like.

I like the ending lines very much Yes, light is often more reliable than maps. Love that play on illumination.
ReplyDeleteRather poignant given the recent suicide of Ridley Scott's brother this week. I guess it depends upon which light you follow.
ReplyDeleteHells, somehow I think the right light makes itself known
