Gimme Shelter

It's been so long since I've posted my photos. I blame it on my electrical problems (that's another story.) So in the spirit of honoring all kinds of shelters, and with two obvious exceptions, here's a mishmash of places I've been and shelters I've seen. ♥

  1. Beautiful. Shelter means different things, depending on the context, but I love the various images you've posted.

Especially the forest shelter for Renee. Man, when I pass on, I hope I get to go to somewhere like that too. It looks positively peaceful. :)

I remember the one for Renee ..... it's perfect!

Every one of these - in all their different concepts is a wonderful example of *Shelter*....

I heard you have been *under the weather*....I hope you are feeling better by the hour!!! I am glad you are safely ensconsed in #9...where you are warm..it's an ideal shelter!

The one for Renee was particularly interesting, and so appropriate.

  8. So many different shelters you've shown us. One, a barn amisdst the mountains, looked like a place I could live, for sure. Alas, there's traffic outside, and people living stacked upon themselves. Your pictures were like a bit of a reprieve.

  9. I have learned to be my own shelter, I have found it better that way. Though a few of those plces look like they'd be a nice place to visit for a bit I honestly do not think i could change my habitat.

The bear lives in the forest, it is born here, lives there, procreates there, then ages gets old and dies all in what it considers to be it's home. I have always had an affinity for bears.

  13. It was so lovely to see that picture with Renee our senior angel. Some people have the knack of pouring hope into seemingly hopeless hearts and I always remember how good Renee was at that. I like the vibrancy of the colours and how clean the lines are on modern buildings. So much historical architecture around here that sometimes I miss the simplicity of modern buildings. Nice selection KJ ♥ xx Jos

ah, Renee, raven sister, kindred spirit so missed....

  21. tracey, when i pass on, i hope to see renee first thing!

wrobin, stella loves her places of shelter. her bed, that blanket one time in ptown. thanks for your well wishes, arrrgh i've been sick and it lingers. i'm glad your knee is so much better. sounds like you are getting out and about and having fun with friend, fox, and camera :^)

rob bear, did you know renee? i didn't know that. i'm glad if that is so. if not, check out her blog. she is remarkable. xo

caroline, can you imagine a tent city of charcoal? it breaks my heart: livelihoods from the recyling dump and charcoal everyway.

thank you, wieneke. that is very kind of you. ♥

  22. hi mim ♥

barbara, that barn belongs to my friends barb and rudi. they moved to vermont from iowa 25 years ago and have been restoring a lumbering old farmhouse a stone and a window at a time. it will never get done :^)

mark, you should now meet rob bear. i am introducing the two of you to eachother right now. xo

    thanks annie. i know....

annie, umbrellas and polkadots, i like that you like that! the umbrella shot is up a ways from you in carpinteria. xo

    hells, summer's over, yes?

jos, those huge buildings are las vegas. they're a spectacle! what you said about renee: yes, she did that for so many of us. and we met so many wonderful people through her ♥

lo, it's mr. ryan in the car. ♥

  23. suki, easy peasy to leave a kind comment about your poems.

cat, i know what you mean. i use to have this fear that the world was ending and my daughter was in one place and my partner in another and my mother in another. one of my best shelter is in front of my blazing fire place. ps cat, i'm having the damnest time opening and commenting on your blog. i won't give up xoxo

chrisy, that is provincetown and the ocean is right behind that house. you have excellent taste!

thanks annie, i was frustrated that i couldn't include some shots from italy.....grrrrr

likewise and ditto, angela. i loves you :^)

cs, please hold on to me for a while to e sure i can get back to you. ♥

  24. I've loved every one of these photos. Many shelters, and many sheltered.

I do believe I am barely able to make out Stella there with Renee,,,just a little to her left. Close your eyes, look real hard, and you will see them,,,,,

    ♥♥
Oh, and please feel better soon!

  25. Further thought.

I would not be surprised if emily spent the bail money on gummy Bears or jelly beans. emily is peculiar that way. But if she did the former, she would be "Bearing up" by now. At least one would hope.

  26. We no longer have the guest room as it is now our little library, but I have a room in my heart that is yours if that would do. You will have to share it with some people you know and some you are yet to meet but I am sure you will be welcome in that little shelter.

  27. ah babs. you are so sweet. i looked and the image and thought are so comforting. i've been worried about stella feeling lost without us. if she is with renee, i know better. ♥

bear, i 'caved' and sent emily the bail money after external pressure from here and there. she is in big trouble with me now

allegra, i am 'over the moon' (aahhhh) honored, inspired, hopeful and determined. you have a room in my heart also. forever more. ♥

  28. You always know where to find me, KJ, and I will re-invite you as often as I need to! ♥

  29. Well, kj, is being in trouble with you worse than being in trouble with the law? I suspect yes. I can also imagine that emily will not want to come home. She may try to sneak across the border, coming up to Canada. If I see her, I'll let you know.
