Thursday 13 Ho Hum

This post is all about me:
.
1. Every spring I am faced with the reality that my hose and sprinklers all leak. Every year! Why would that be, anyway? Over the winter they are safely tucked in the garage and treated kindly. So why am I always replacing them?
.
2. I have been longing to buy MANY flowering trees and shrubs for my yard, and it may finally happen this weekend. My plan is to continue landscaping my yard by planting things while they are in bloom--that way I'll get the height, color, and timing right. Or close to right...
.
3. Has anybody noticed that I am writing very little poetry since I went to the Colrain Poetry Manuscript conference? It's not as dire as it sounds--I'm inhibited by the thought of revising before releasing but hopefully that's a good thing.
.
4. My new job is great. Currently I have 13 clients, including several children and a couple of families. Many of these folks have not been in counseling before and many live below the poverty line. I am amazed how easily and how much I like and care about these folks. Several have bare rooms with no furniture and no means to pick up even donated furniture.
.
5. jb's knee replacement is coming along fantastically. She is walking without a limp and increased distances. This surpasses my progress following my less severe knee surgery: my strength is still not back and sometimes I limp. I'm improving, but slowly. I want my swagger back!
.
6. The story of Lily and Alex has charmed its way into my heart.
.
7. It's no fun when your best friend lives in another state. But it's fantastic when time allows and distance melts.
.
8. My friend Melissa is writing a wonderful novel about life and love. I love watching her confidence grow with each day.
.
9. There aren't many blogs these days that don't include photos or videos. Technologically disabled as I am, I worry about my posts being boring sometimes.

10. jb and I are doing our Yard-Art fair again in August. Do you want to come?
.
11. Why do I need heavy duty scissors to open my printer cartridges? (Plastic be damned!)
.
12. I am soon to get a small tattoo...

13. ...and color my hair auburn-ish.
.
Anyone else interested in sharing a ho-hum Thursday 13?

  1. Looking at 12 and 13 Melissa is not the only one flourishing :-D

I laughed when I read about the sprinkers, my father used to have the same problem with the Christmas tree lights every year. He used to always mutter about gremlins and that was a whole generation before any film. I think you must have gremlins living in your shed KJ :-D

  3. I don't think your photo and video light posts are boring. While I love people's photos, they sometimes crash my very old computer...

  4. I love Thursday 13s! (I just posted my ho-hum lot) I was reading and thought, hey, I'm a Melissa and I'm writing a novel about life and love and HEY, it's me! ;) Just kidding -- I knew it was me, and I'm honored to be on your Thirteen. I'm so glad you love my book and its characters. You're one of the reasons it's being written! Looks like C's first day of school is the 8th of Sept ... so I think we should commence our plan for the Yart Fair ... wink, wink.

  5. This is such a fun Thursday 13! I am imagining your yard full of even more flowers, and it is a glorious picture! I am also ever so curious about your tattoo-to-be... I hope you'll share it when you get it. I'm glad to hear that jb's knee replacement is coming along, and also very glad to hear that the YART fair will happen again. Yay! As for your story of Alex and Lily (and poetry) - remember what we talked about.... I hope over the summer we can get together and share our respective expertises (is that a word????) with each other! Oh - and yay about your job! It's all

  9. I'll never find your posts of this kind boring. Just do your thing, the photo's or films are not important. I will admit that I do enjoy your photos when you post them.
I'm pleased for you that you are ejoying the job! Such a thing can be important.
And I am also pleased that JB's knee replacement is succesful.
I have this buddie who had his knee replaced some weeks ago, that is not small surgery.
I'd love to come to yard art fair, but I'm seeing about visiting France in July. I've wanted to visit the Gorges du Tarn for some years now, Gorges=canyons and the Tarn is a river. I'm hoping it will remind me of the great time I had when I visited the Canyons in Utah and Arizona, I so so enjoy nature. I'll never forget the Colorado river, such natural beauty!
