Happy Story

This is the story of a family of a mother, father, three little boys, and three grandmothers.

Everyone expected the birth of a fourth little boy. Science was on the side of that assumption.

Everyone is shocked that a baby girl has arrived instead.

Her name is Reese Elizabeth. She is going to have three older brothers who wrestle and chase monsters and chances are they will treat her both rough and soft so that when she grows up she will be both tough and tender.

Reese and her brothers live in a new house and they have a new yard where they will be able to swing, run, dance and play baseball.

Reese's grandmothers are ready with the nail polish.

Reese's brother Drew also wants his fingers and toes polished. His Mother and Father do not like that idea, probably because the world is not really gender neutral, even with smart parents.  His grandmothers might one day quietly paint Drew's fingers and toes anyway.

And when the time comes, Reese's fingers and toes will be no doubt be painted in the open.

After all, let's get real: what is a passionate life without nail polish?

(welcome baby reese. We already love you madly)

  2. Welcome to the world, indeed, little Reese! Now you get to see the other folks in your family, including your grandmas, and Chase! What a cutie you are, even when you're sound asleep. (Especially when you're sound asleep?)

Blessings and Bear hugs to all!

    1. Hi wieneke xo, it was deemed that brother Logan was still too little to visit the hospital. That was confirmed yesterday at home when he pulled Reese's leg like a chicken (oops, no Logan, gentle gentle )

Jess is amazingly okay. I don't know how she bounces back do quickly. She will have three months off from work. That is very wonderful for her

My toes got polished last night (thank you jb) in preparation for the operating table :-)

      Love you, my friend

    1. Pretty awesomely cool, Mim. I'm shocked beyond belief we have a girl. I wasn't sure I could handle the wild energy and chaos of a fourth boy. That sounds so stereotypical but I can now admit (confirm) boys are different than girls.

Plus, my odds have increased that someone will visit me when I'm 100

  8. Kj, This is so exciting, a girl! I had a feeling it would be a girl because the wish for one was so powerful. Reese is darling. I grew up with one older brother and two younger ones, I was the only girl and I can tell you that Reese is in for it :-), though it was mostly the younger brothers that teased me. Also you should know that girls can have wild energy too, I did and my family has the stories to prove it :-). Happy life for little Reese.
    P.S. I received your card :-).

    1. Haha Annie, heck, I know about wild energy! But I'm hoping there will be at least a little less chasing and wrestling. Maybe I'm dreaming :-) I do wonder if her two older brothers will approach her more gently than they have little Logan

  18. KJ - She is so wonderful! And just so you are prepared, I have 3 boys and 1 girl, and that little girl was like 5 kids all by her lonesome. lol! And we believed in nail polish and dress up for all, and it was always a party at our house. And now (all grown up) they are still a tight bunch, which is the best thing of all.
Little Reese is going to stir things up, I am betting. :)) This is all such great stuff, KJ.
(And the knee is going to go swimmingly, I am positive! xox)

  19. So the grannies have had their 4th rodeo and granny kj can go in for her slice and dice in good spirits now. Hey tell the old poops that guys in Detroit have been painting their nails for awhile now and I don't think many would care to make a negative comment to them about it. and if they still can't get on board paint his nails black and raccoon his eyes...that seems to be the style.
