A Place to Be Free by the Sea for Me

I have to show you again!

After weeks of one problem two obstacles and three reasons to cry JB and I closed on this house yesterday, in Provincetown, one block from the bay and beach, with a tiny teeny yard and a furnace in a dirt hole under the living room floor.

Buying this house required more financial juggling than I will ever do in my life. The deal was on off on off. At times it seems like a shell game, or Ms. Pacman, the pieces moving no matter how hard or how much I tried to stay calm and take each problem one at a time.

But yesterday....

The house is perfect for us. In time maybe we will end up here, in Provincetown.

The house has room for little children--soon to be four of them--and their parents.

This is probably the ONLY single family house in Provincetown we could ever afford and I do believe we got it at a bargain price that I will beam about for a long time.

And here, if I may, is a glimpse of Provincetown:

A new chapter begins.

Of that, I'm sure.

  2. Hi Kj, Living here in Austria we are land locked apart from Lake Constance and I grew up by the sea.
So I absolutely love your blog. What a dream area to live in and the house is unbelievable. We have one son living in New York and one living in Vienna.

    1. Hello and welcome , marguerite. I am delighted you enjoy my blog; thank you very much.

I see you do not have a blog. Is that right?

I was surprised and very happy that you had the same privilege of knowing Renee and Tessa that I did. I will never forget xo

Please come back anytime. I have been in Austria --so beautiful

  4. But...but... are you moving to Provincetown permanently? I love this house, it looks wonderful, but I am not understanding what you and JB are going to do.
Are the other houses for sale now?

  6. Wieneke, I cannot yet move from my present house in western Massachusetts because my Mother is in a rest home there and I cannot bear to move her or leave her. She is 97 and I am most important to her.

JB and I expect we will sell our house and move to this new one when I am able to. Until then this little house in ptown will be a vacation home. I hope I/we will be able to stay there for days at a time, longer ocassionally. We can't afford two houses indefinitely. Now having a place to 'settle' ahead is a big piece of life ahead

    Does that make sense?

The distance between my two houses is 3.5 hours one way. But the drive is so worth it xoxo

  7. And chase. Overall he is doing much better. And no seizures! He is more affectionate and has begun to eat dog treats. Before he would turn his head away, as if he'd been subversively trained not to even eat anything given to him

The last few days chase has been nervous (probably because we have been too!) we know this because he bites his front legs down to the skin.

So much is new to chase. This weekend he discovered cars passing by on his walk and he was freaked. He is unfamiliar with stairs. He howls like a coyote when he is alone sometimes

But step by step. This is a total life change for him. I'm glad he is with us !

  9. Oh My Goodness! Such a place! Such a view! A room for family and a yard for Chase.

So glad you have it. Busy summers with the "touristes" (who will give you lots of writing ideas); quiet winters with lots of time for writing. What is not to like about that! Enough to make a Bear envious, though the probably isn't a decent den within a hundred miles.

    Congratulations!

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

    1. Thanks, rob-bear. Not much of a yard for chase: no room for him to run and not enough room for any dog his size. This is complicated by the fact that he will not relieve himself on a lease and being a greyhound he cannot be off leash in open areas.

We haven't figured this part out yet.

And yes, a great place to write. And in winter, a great place to hibernate...

    1. Persist is the right word, Amanda. It was hell to get to this point. I will probably dream of incomplete harsh paperwork and unforseen problems for the next year!

I know you know: room for my family matters so much. It's like merging all that I love

I hope you are having a grand time yourself

  18. KJ, I rejoice for you. I can see myself loving such a place, and I can smell the salt air just from the photo of the house because it looks like it belongs near the ocean. I'm leaving tomorrow for a twelve year visit, but if you should decide that that's not enough, we can talk.

    1. Hahaha snow; if you come for twelve years I will have to charge you at least $ 5 a week for rent. And you will have to cook breakfast :-)

    2. "you will have to cook breakfast"

I hope you can get by with biscuits, cornbread, pancakes, an occasional yeast bread, and hot cereals.

  22. Ahem! As required by law, I am hereby advising you of a major development in your life.

You have been nominated for the much-coveter and internationally-renowned Liebster Award.

The nomination requires you fulfill a series of prescribed tasks. To wit:

    1. The Liebster is given by bloggers to other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
    2. Each blogger should post eleven facts about himself or herself.
    3. Each blogger should answer the 11 questions that are asked by the person doing the nominating.
    4. Choose eleven new bloggers to nominate for the Award and link to them in the post.
    5. Create eleven new questions for your nominees.
    6. Go back to their pages and tell them they’ve been nominated.
    7. No tag backs.

Upon having completed theses requirements, you may hasten to my blog Bears Noting, and pick up the aforementioned Liebster Award.

Or, it you are really busy (like writing poetry or a book, painting with watercolours, looking after a cat, or moving house), you may skip the aforementioned requirements, and just go get the thing.

Blessings and Bear hugs; Peace and Joy.

    1. Eleven! I don't know if I can come up with four sets of eleven! But I will try even if I have to modify that number.
