Friday and Glad Mish & Mash

Shorter than usual, but definitely a mish-mash :^)

1. There was a time when all kinds of blog awards were created and handed out. Some people said 'no awards please' but most of us, i.e. me, felt kind of popular and validated to get an award from someone.

So I'm temporarily reviving the practice. But I am being very very selective. Plus I don't know who designed this award so I'm sorry I can't give credit or ask permission, but I think it is beautiful and will be beautiful on a sidebar. To the following two bloggers (friends and artists too)  please honor me by accepting this award: (trumpet)

Mim
Reason: You cause too much fun creating all the different things that you do. You were the very first person to buy my book. I consider you family. ♥

Reason: I so much like who you are. We have history :^) What a great thing to be able to get to know a wild good person a little bit more each time. And to share the dips and trips of living life. ♥

2. JB and I are starting to look for one maybe two dogs. We will get a shelter dog and I find myself drawn to older dogs, or dogs with challenges, because I think at that point they deserve a good life. For unknown reasons we are looking at greyhounds. Or maybe two dogs who have to stay together. Or maybe a greyhound and another dog not yet met :^)  I keep thinking of my Stella and I realize I've accepted missing her. That is the easier part. The hard part is wanting to know for sure she is truly alright without us...

3. I don't remember writing this, though I know it must be within the last year. I think my blog is not the best place for this line of poetic experience, but wherever however, to no surprise to me, words will keep coming....

I knew it then.
No healing,
just crusted time
which in its way protects
but I was right
that what cannot heal
means fixed and final
which in its way confirms
love grew in a dark place

4. These are handmade lights from green, amber, and yellow-gold bottles. Might look pretty neat over the dining room table across from the little kitchen. JB and I think they are warm, European, artistic. I wonder when we sell the house (could be in a couple of years: could be) will this be a desirable feature or not at all?

5. I want to write a post about this because isn't it the truth?
I am in Provincetown for the weekend. It was not easy to decide to come: I am trying to see my Mother almost every day. But my good friend Heather is coming tomorrow on the ferry and we will all have a good time together. She is running a ten mile road race on Sunday. You may be interested to know that before Heather was a mother and insurance manager and wife and now runner, she was a magician's assistant including being sawed in half, and that is where she met Gordon, her husband, who was a pretty well known singer.

I like when I'm random.  :^)

  1. We ALL like it when you are random. Thank you thank you and a big hug and smile from me to you.
And kudos to Heather, and her singer/painter husband. I don't think I could do two miles, let alone 10. So brave!
Have a lovely time there this weekend, despite rain or other strange weather

  2. And another thing. I can see a previously sad little dog settling down with a happy sigh, knowing that he or she has found a home to be loved in. I can just see it and hear the contented "finally" sigh. I can.

  3. If I were to buy your house, the lights would be a big selling point. I would really enjoy them.

And yes, I agree, No matter how much money you have, a poverty of the spirit makes you truly poor.

  4. thank you annie. i know that money helps--how i wish i could travel the whole world!--but imagine having only that. i hope you have a good weekend xo

  5. Strange. A restaurant in River City has lights like those made from bottles. Must be the new trend.

Greyhounds, I'm told, make good and friendly pets. Usually when they retire from the racing circuit they need a good home.

And why not include poetry in your mishmash? That's why there are such things as mish-mashes. You can throw anything into them, including the kitchen sink.

Hope you have a wonderful time in Provincetown.

    Blessings and Bear hugs.

  8. Thank you KJ!!! (are you SURE the award wasn't because I have bailed out Emily Rabbit repeatedly, and given her ideas??? just sayin'....hahaha!)
I would love a house with wine bottle lights! If I had proper lighting in my kitchen, I would have that over the table as I have LOADS enough bottles... :-)
Enjoy the weekend~~caretakers need rest. Trust me.
    Sending you bug-free-hugs~~~♥

  10. Glad you're in PT. Sometimes, a little bit of time away for a caretaker is just what is needed.

I love the wine bottle light...it definitely would be one reason to love your home enough to buy it. The other reasons would be the warmth I would feel emanating from your home...xx

i'm going with the lights. decision made! thank you for your words on my home. i will say it is cozy. xoxoxox

  12. Wonderful, WONDERFUL news that you and JB are considering a doggie - or two! You both are such good animal people....some lucky furry one will be thrilled!

I echo Marion....when you are a caretaker - a break is a necessity...you need to replenish - well - everything! P-town is the place to do it!

Your award recipients are well deserving! Two remarkable ladies!

I hope it is warm enough for a walk along the beach....I will ALWAYS think of Stella, with her paws stretched out in the sand.

    Love,

  25. I absolutely adored our greyhound. They are such gentle souls. The males are a wee bit sweeter than the females, probably because the females are injected with testosterone as puppies to build up their racing muscles. But either way, there is something satisfying about giving a rescue dog a much deserved loving home.
