Proof that New York is a BIG City

I'm posting for the second time today because I can't head to bed knowing I left my whiny grouchy first post still open for business.:^) So here is a fill in substitute.

I love New York City. It is a short two hours from me and I don't get there enough. These photos from around Times Square show how massive a city it is, but the real secret is that much, even most, of the city is comprised of charming neighborhoods.

For now, however, here's a quick peek at the city that never sleeps. In all its massive glory.

Start spreading the news....

New York, New York!

If you have the chance, it's a city not to be missed. Even if you hate big cities, I think you'll be delightfully delighted.

love kj

  1. I love New York. I have only been once, for 5 days, but they were packed with fun, excitment, art and a play staring Sting. I would love to go back someday and if I lived two hours away I would go, often!
I just read your last post. I am sorry you are still sick!
As for my complaints, though I have many I won't speak of them, they go away faster if I don't
    :-).
    Feel better fast.

    1. annie, i live two hours from nyc, two hours from boston, and not even one hour from brattleboro vt. and yet, i find myself driving three and a half hours to provincetown with a smile on my face. the time i love nyc best is around the christmas holidays. it's magic.

i know you don't complain and annie, you are such a positive person. but i will say, the rant felt good!

  2. For being sick you sure are busy today...You looked up finding and still were not sure about what I was refering to, it had more than one meaning but the coolest one was this-3. findings Small tools and materials used by an artisan: a jeweler's findings.-if you took a piece of jewlery before you put a stone in it the old term for it would be to call it a Finding, I need to find a stone, or I need to find something to put this stone in...I put this on your page because you asked so nicely and I want others to try to figure it out also;-)

I am going to try and get there this year. Now I want to go read your grumpy post. Did I miss it? I LOVE grumpy posts! Feel better, my friend! xox

    1. mark, you must have hung too much too long in the wrong places so the starfishes were missing. they're there. it's a super city, mark, for poets and patriots. ♥

  6. my daughter passes through times square every day on her way to work. sometimes i wonder how it must feel to be subjected to all that noise and if it stresses out one's system. yet there are folks who thrive off that adrenaline.

are you feeling any better? sending healing wishes♡

    1. amanda, i think you get used to it, as long as you live somewhere that has a neighborhood feel to it. i could not spend much time around times square, but what fun to visit. xoxox

  7. Well, after reading the previous post, I'm almost (but not quite) sorry I sent you those unwanted well-wishes. They were sincere, and I want you to feel better. So there.
    :0)
I love, love, LOVE big cities, and have very fond memories of a few days, long long ago, when I was lucky enough to be in NYC. So far, it's been my only trip there as an adult. It was sooooo long ago, that Barry Manilow was at Radio City Music Hall with his Copa Cabana Show. I went anyway, just to say I had been there. Ha!

  10. I went there first when I was 19 or 20. It had been a pre teen-teenaged dream come true. I used to lay on my bed looking out the window and dreaming of being in NYC. When I went I got a sore neck from looking UP! UP! UP! So far up to the tops of the buildings. I still remember the joy of BEING there! thanks for bringing some of them back to me. Love all your photos.

  11. I love your photos kj! and I love ny too, so much that my husband worries each time I go that I won't come back. I have so many great memories of the city, and one is when you took the train into grand central to meet me there! What a fun time we had! I know people who don't like nyc, but I don't understand them!

p.s. my son is moving there now, and my girl is thrilled! Now I have even more reason to return. :)

  13. I lived there for several years, and while missing all the cultural opportunities, the noise and the go,go,go of the city told me I needed a different environment. It is great to visit, to live there is another completely different story.

So, practicing self guilt,eh? does it work? Feel better and yadayadayada about grumpy posts, and yadayadayada about good friends that are not supposed to wish you to get well, and yadayadayada about all of the rest, lol! Hugs from here, being sick sucks, I should know.

  14. Well, if New York is great, here's a great blogger from New York. It's Frances at "City Views, Country Dreams." http://cityviewscountrydreams.blogspot.com

Do you think emily might be hiding out in New York? Or is she a west coast kind of gal?

New York. Famous city will all kinds of traditions. Cultural. Interesting. But I'm not sure it's a good place for a Bear. I wouldn't want to end up in a circus.

  15. rob, have you been? you might be right although you can be sure there are ALL kinds of critters, human and otherwise, on the sidewalks of new york.

as for emily, i can't tell you. perhaps you will locate her before i do. she is in trouble. her mother called me this week, wanting to know why she is not in school.

    sigh....

  23. I love, love, LOVE NYC (probably because I've never lived there), and my boy and I spend every other Christmas in New York and New Jersey, so I get to see it when it's even more magical.

Great shots - especially the last one of the skyline and buildings with the crosswalk - and I hope your grumpy mood has been lifted! ::hugs::
