Yes? No?

Last night Stella did something unusual.
.
Since her surgery she has begun to whine, this dog who asks for nothing and appreciates everything. But last night she whined me off my chair, through the living room, down the hall, and into the bathroom.
.
Please let me set the stage: this bathroom is waaaay down the hall. As in not at all near any outside doors.
.
JB noticed it first.
.
A tiny speck.
.
Crunched into the corner.
.

A frog.

In the bathroom.
.
So what was that about?
.
I have friends who are teaching me. Marion is teaching me. And so is Marianne.
.
So I have this little frog and I cannot figure out HOW it managed to get in the house and hop its way to the faraway bathroom.
.
This is what I've learned:
.
Frog's song calls down the cleansing power of the rain. Frog is a reminder of the sacred power of tears to transform and cleanse away sorrow. Frogs will die if away from moisture for too long, and thus Frog reminds us to refresh ourselves, and allow joy to moisten our lives and our hearts. If you are feeling "muddied" by the world, take a moment to dream, to laugh and cry and renew yourself. Frog also reminds us to cleanse our bodies, our environments and our auric fields. People with Frog energy should learn and utilize methods of psychic cleansing.
.
Frog is able to work equally well in the realms of Earth/Air (conscious) and in Water (unconscious.), taking in the unconscious almost by osmosis. Frog people are often artists, mystics, psychics and healers. They are often empathic, excellent at reading others and in knowing how to help them heal.
.
Care must be taken however, not to become swamped by taking in the emotions of others. Frog reminds us to cleanse our bodies, our environments and our auric fields. People with Frog energy should learn and utilize methods of psychic cleansing so that they do not become bogged down. It is imperative to learn how to recognize when people, situations and circumstances are draining energy, and to cleanse them out of your aura so that you may sing freely.
.
A tadpole's shape mirrors that of the spermatozoa. Frogs are often seen as a symbol of fertility and creativity. Frog people should nourish their creative side.
.
Frog people may go through many metamorphoses during their lives, and may change careers several times. Balance will come through respecting these changes and learning to go with the flow.
.
Okay. Thank you. I understand.
.
Who knows: today a frog, tomorrow a princess (or a babe!)
.
So may I ask: what do you seriously believe or not believe about animal totems?
.
Do you think this implausible frog is mere coincidence?
.
I'm interested because, frankly, I'd rather not cry. I'm all for recleansing and renewing, but I'd rather not cry.
.
P.S. Know what Renee said about crying? Her sister Camille recently told me that Renee would chastise anyone who tried to wipe away their tears.
.
"Those are healing tears," she'd say. "They deserve to fall straight down."

  1. I don't know about any of the business with what animals mean and I don't think it matters, but I do think the frog came to see you and I don't think it is an accident, I think only you can know what he came to tell you. I once had a coyote come see me in a gallery and he had to go through a courtyard and 2 rooms to find me and I did not know what his message was, but I knew he had one :-).
As for tears. I say the same as Renee, I cry when I feel to (and lately it has been a lot)and I don't try to push the tears away. Tears and sadness are a part of life and they are to be embraced.
Kiss that frog for me, will ya.
    Love and hugs.

  3. Yes I believe in animal totems!!!!
I specially posted something on my blog for you after reading your post!

How beautiful this frog showed up for you!
Frog is such a beautiful symbol (and animal!)
So nice you looked up the meaning and I am sure you have read something what will make sense to you.
I think it matches your post from yesterday and YES I think this frog didn't show up by coincidence

    Love

  4. I'm just glad it wasn't a rhino because the lesson of a rhino--when found in your bathroom--is that life is a waste, you're hopeless, so you might as well kill yourself. BOY am I glad it wasn't a rhino.

  5. We can learn from the animals every day, like you for me it's difficult to cry my tears.
Last friday during my meditation they came like a river, felt so good afterwards:))
Think the jigsaw in your mind is almost finished, give your"Special"Stella a big kiss from me.

  6. Wow. I needed to read this post tonight. First, the tears. I ever so rarely cry. Like maybe once every other year. But I have lots of stress right now and so this morning when my precious Willow laid a couple of scratches across my hand, causing it to bleed, I cleaned it and slapped criss-crossed bandaids over it, then went back to bed. Feeling very heartbroken I was surprised that her betrayal of my love and trust silently became tears. And I let them come, which wasn't for long, but I appreciated them nonetheless. Willow just blesses me in different ways than any other favorite cat ever has!

Animal totems. I believe in them and I sure think you should after this frog visitation! The description of a frog person sounds like you and I would ask no further questions about how that frog came to be there. I also noticed that he isn't just some ordinary-looking little frog, but is a grand guy. What a gift.

We do not use pesticides or fertilizers in our yard because we want it to be a welcoming place for any creature who needs it for a stopover place or for a home. Consequently, we do see slugs (huge ones). But never a snail. Last week I was feeding the garage cats in late afternoon after a day of rain. At the edge of the concrete just inside the garage from the gravel driveway was a dark speck, very tiny. I had to bend down to examine it because I wasn't wearing my glasses. And it was an itty-bitty snail. I brought it inside and put it in a small seashell with drops of water and fresh spinach clippings. Put him in the bathroom for moisture. He stayed still for a full day before coming out to enchant my husband during his shave before work. He woke me up and we marveled at how amazing the tiny snail was looking around his seashell motel. Later in the day I returned him to the fern garden. The seashell was empty an hour later. Last night I acquired a new follower, a young man in Romania whose blog (translated)is titled: Learn from the Snails......

  7. i TOTALLY believe in animal totems and visitations. totally.

  8. I cannot stop laughing about what snowbrush said. I guess I am a visual person. :) I'm not sure I believe in animal totems, but I believe in the power of animals to bring us into the moment. Animals heal us by just being. That frog in your bathroom is such a delightful surprise that I am wondering if Stella put it in there for a lark. I mean, she was whining, the frog looks a little complicit. I love frogs and would be over the moon to see one in my bathroom. :) As for tears, they are cleansing, and I wish none of us ever had to find that out. xox! Pam

  9. Seeing as it has been about 30 years Ms. Camille would have a looooooooooooooooooong wait before she saw a tear trekkle down me cheek to chastise me for wiping away.

Funny thing about the mystic is it is not the object that matters but the belief placed in it.

Want to put all that on the back of a frog---cool. Saves its legs from the deep fryer/

  10. My goodness, didn't this stir up some interesting comments!!

He really is quite a handsome frog. Who put him back outside? I'm thinking JB did as I've seen your reaction when a teeny-tiny bug lands on you ;)

Stella heard that frog. She's a smart, wise old girl.

You know I believe in totems, Raven being my strongest one. I feel artisticaly (sp?) guided by him :)

Have a super Sunday, Ms. KJ.

    See you soon!!

  11. so interesting that stella led you to frog. I think we can put all kinds of meanings on all kinds of things. If some of these meanings or some new meanings resonate with you, then that is beautiful.

Of course I groove with all this stuff but I feel it comes from us not them.

so, did you kiss the frog????

  12. I have a friend who is a frog person. There are figures of frogs throughout her whole house. She has been attracted to frogs her whole life...her favourite stuffed animal as a child was a frog.

I swear frogs follow her around, when she's in her garden. She has a small pond, which helps attract frogs, but my goodness! There is one who sits like a fat buddha on a rock, sunning himself. He is her main frog, and she tells me he is the one she goes to when she needs comfort. He is a good choice.

She always gives support and energy to others when it is needed. She has the amazing ability to cleanse negativity from her surroundings, just by being there. She cries rivers when she needs to, never letting others or where she is stop her.

She is easily recognizable as a frog person...she has worked her whole life around what she intrinsically understood was her way.

Your frog appeared to you in an unusual way. Take his message and apply it to yourself...and if that means tears, well, there is no greater release.

A very wise teacher once told me if we cry hard enough and long enough to wash away the hurt, our eyes will not be swollen. We have washed the sludge out of us and away.

I have cried hard and long and have discovered she's right. Along with feeling wonderfully sorrow-free and completely cleansed, my eyes did not swell.

    As usual, Renee is right!

Have a happy Sunday, dear kj...and listen to your little frog!

  14. I am late....(guess I am in "White Rabbit" mode..)

I love this post....as I love frogs.... I do feel whenever we have animal "visitors", they have come to tell us something....often though, we just can't hear their message.

This little guy is adorable! I would have told you to give him a kiss (just in case he was a real Princess) before you released him/her....but having read Lo's comment....I guess JB did the releasing....

And that Stella....what a girl! Nothing gets past her..... and see, you DID understand her message!

You KNOW ME....I spent so much of the past 18 months crying, I feel happy when I go for a spell without tears... but, when they come, they come.....and I let them flow..... I ususally feel better after a good cry....

No crying at YART though....except for joyful, happy tears, ok?

    Love,

♥ Robin ♥ (who always kisses Frogs....in the hope that.....)

  16. I believe and have always believed in animal totems...Mine have always been a gecko's(not geico)and ravens. gecko bring happiness and good luck to a home and garden and I have one tattooed on me because they have always given good luck. The raven and I had a meeting a very tormented stage of my life face to face a HUGE back as night raven almost 2 feet tall sat on my car roof at a store and stared me head on..I thought oh great someone is gonna die(grandma told me)..But no it was the old me shedding or dying off to gain strength to get out of bad marriage and life..So ravens bring me strength..and believe it or not..Have never seen a raven in wild ever before or after that day. Love their beauty and strength...So yes I believe..lol

Ok now that everyone thinks Im a weirdo....lol..

  19. Oh my goodness, I had the very same thing! Well, not in the bathroom, but clinging to my storm door on the entry to the kitchen (the doorway friends and family come to). Just yesterday, in fact. I can't even tell you when I've last seen a frog around, and certainly not on my door. I love the idea of it being a reminder to refresh ourselves. I surely need message that now.

  20. Hi, me again! So, I've been Googling images of North American frogs/toads and I think your guy is a North American Leopard frog. The N.A. Wood frogs looked a bit like him but they are teeeeeeny-tiny little guys the size of the end of your finger. (And big enough to scare my dear friend of whose name I won't mention.)

See how thought provoking this post was? Enough to make me scour the universe to find out who this little guy is.

  22. I think it is so cool how Stella alerted you to the frog.Isn't it funny how 'sensitive' they can be?
I love all things frog,,almost as much as I've loved reading all the comments here.
You have such an awesome support group, kjbabe!

  23. i believe that ~everything~ in life has meaning... Especially where our animal friends are concerned... and in my experience the more you take notice of the little things, the more *magical* your life becomes... and who doesn't want that? (((hugs)))

  24. Blogging is amazing isn't it? It would never have ocurred to me that there might be some reason for a frog to arrive in my bathroom! Not in a million years would I have sought for meaning in such an event. Maybe I am missing out .... then again, if a rhino did perchance happen by it wouldn't unduly worry me either (other than the inevitable structural damage that is!).

Seems my animal totem is a wolf. Which means that your post inspired me to look ... to learn a bit more. Wolves are scary though ... I am timid mostly. Go figure.

I think we even now tend to think that tears are a sign of weakness. Why? That doesn't make sense to me. I would say that though. I cry easily and spent quite a few years thinking that I was weak because of it. Now I just figure it's like a pressure relief valve.

Sorry to be so absent yet again KJ. Not much time to spare at the mo.

Wish I lived close enough to attend the YART!! xx Jos

  25. Jos' response made me wonder about how much diversity there is in people's choice of animal totems. Hers--the wolf--would surely be popular as would bears, hawks, mountain lions, and eagles (all of which, oddly enough, are predatory animals), but does anyone ever choose the mosquito, the vulture, the leech, the housefly, the opossum, or the Norwegian rat, as their totem?

  26. I say the frog was perfect message.
    I love it!
    I love Renee, so perfect.

  27. What a great post. Strangely enough, we had a little frog in our bathroom a while ago. I decided the cat must have brought it in as I can't imagine how else it arrived there! Amazing isn't it?

  28. Clever Stella and what a gorgeous frog. Glad she found it in time I found a tiny dead one inside our house this week they are so quick to hop in making it difficult to spot them before it's too late. I'm always curious about what message any animal that comes my way may have and I have a pack of animal spirit cards*!*
