For a Wonder Woman

.

"The heart has no bones you say, so it won't break,

but the purpose of loving is the pounding it takes."
Josh Ritter.

(found like a falling feather from my friend Melissa's facebook page)

I may soon write an overdue personal post on this blog, but not now.
.
.
Now I want to tell you about Tessa .
.
.
Many of us know her, love her. She is a painter, a writer, a photographer, a humanitarian, always an African, an elegant beautiful woman with an eye and a paintbrush and heart so expansive there is no doubt, zero, about the privilege you feel just standing, walking beside her.
.
.
She is also sick. Seriously so. She found the grace and courage to talk about that today.
.
.
Through blogging I have finally learned that there are no limits to love and bonds and acceptance: they and we exist and thrive beyond countries and geographies and cultures and boundaries. It's true.
.
.
But I did not know until my beloved friend and Senior Angel Renee died in March that these borderless bonds exist, and thrive, across the thin line between life and death. These are bonds that flow directly into your heart, into all you know, passionately, tenderly taking residence there, no matter what may come.
.
.
How selfish that I cannot bare to think of one moment without Tessa gracing the planet I live on. .
.
Please go to Tessa's blog today, tomorrow.

.
.
Read her Stormy Weather post please, and let yourself witness grace and gravity wrapping its wings around you.
.
.
And while you're there, please tell Tessa that her friend kj, and all of her universe, is root-toot-tooting for her. Tell her she will not be alone for a single moment. Tell her, in your own way, that somethings endure, forever. Tell her you appreciate knowing how much dreams and accomplishments and love really, truly matters.
.
.
Tell her you know all these things, and you are grateful for it.
.
.

.

Tessa gave me this calendar last Christmas. It is on my desk now, the best calendar I have ever had. Take a moment while you are visiting her to look at her paintings. Like Tessa herself, they are simply, totally exquisite.

Together Strong, dear friend. Here We Are.
.

Thank you.
.
Love
.

  3. I thought of you the moment I read her post. I almost picked up the phone (but you know me!) but knew that I would connect with you today. I went downstairs and tried to paint something. I wandered the house. I thought. I had some teary eyes. Mr. T took me out for a drive.

in the end I thought - I have met so many wonderful people thru blogging that this is just gonna happen. Some will be happy and healthy. Some will be sick. Some will marry and have children, and some will break up and be sad.

But oh boy - Tessa is so damn special!!!

    much love, xoxo mim

  4. me too, robyn. tessa is so dignified, her words so thoughtful. again, we face an illness so unfair to the most wonderful woman.

nicky s, thank you for coming here. i know of no one more special, and 'special' is not a word i use often.

mim, yes, me too, mim. i thought of several of us with our collective held breath reading tessa's powerful words. i am so glad she shared with us yesterday. now we can walk by her side.

  5. Oh, kj. Damn. I am so sorry. Tessa is simply a jewel. I came to know of her through Renee and Maithri. I have one of her lovely prints here in my home, and every time I walk by it, I smile.
I am very sad to hear this news, my friend. xox Pam

  8. KJ, I was FINALLY able to entreat "Blogger" NOT to devour my comment....

Thank you for letting us know about Tessa. I have seen her "fantastical" header on your sidebar for months now....and never went to visit. I just did visit and was able to leave a comment....

She is another amazing, vibrant woman....like you.... I am keeping her in my prayers....

Love to you and to the wonderful Stella.

    Love, always,

    ♥ Robin ♥

  9. I am feeling even worse than i have been kj. Tessa kept telling me not to worry, she was more worried about others than herself. I met Tessa almost 2 years ago and then we met Maithri and Renee. 3 of her original paintings hang in my home, a cookbook she collaborated on and many other gifts this most generous, gorgeous, talented woman has sent me.We encouraged each other to keep running when neither of us felt much like it. I am just heartbroken. I cannot believe it. I love her.

    your post is beautiful.
    i love you,
    lori

  10. Thank you for introducing Tessa's blog to me, kj. It's a gorgeous blog and I so wish I had visited in happier times. But Tessa is a study in bravery...she's absolutely inspiring, and I'm so glad I met her!

I received news today that Goatman, a long time blogging friend, has cancer and is taking chemo at the moment. It is such a shock to find a beloved friend to be so ill. And so, I know how you feel about Tessa, who, I hope, will also become a friend of mine.

Blessings to you, kj, you are such a special person, you know that?
