  2. KJ - my first reaction was "why Mr? why not Ms. KJ, for goodness sake - be open in your gender assignments"...

    then I remembered...

    male cardinals are red
    male bumblebees fly about
and your little baby drew is a boy

so I gracefully back down from my immediate reaction and say...

    lovely pictures and sentiment dear!!

  5. I'm all about the little things. I think we get smarter as we get older and come to realize these things ;)

We had the Granddaddy of all bees in the house the other day. Brian was looking for something to kill it with! I ran in and captured him gently in a cup and released him. After singing "Born Free" as he flew off, I resumed scolding Brian.

    Never a dull moment.

It was a big ass bee though!

  6. how do we know, :)

mim, heeheheehee! thank you for giving me all this gender cover. OF COURSE i already knew only male cardinals are red (clearing my throat). i can't wait to see you, mim!!!

marianne, i heard some potentially exciting news this weekend about you and travel and friends. OOOLALA!

anne, i must have taken 25 shots of that bee and other bees and manoman was it tough. your comment made me feel alot better! but that cardinal was in no rush. i took that shot from my living room window for fear of chasing it away. okay, it's near time to head over to your studio to see what you've been up to. :)

clap! clap! clap! for ms. lolo who honored and preserved the life of a bee. i am very impressed. i wouldn't have WANTED to kill it, and i hope i would have tried alternatives, but i would have been alittle jumpy scared too. i've been stung and it's no fun (almost a rhyme, is that a sign?)
    :)

  8. Kj,
You are right! The little things are special and they make us pause and smile and stay in the moment.
    Love. xoxo

  9. It's learning to notice and then appreciate the small things isn't it? I so often forget to notice at all. Thanks for the reminder KJ. xx

  10. KJ,
How wonderful to see these beautiful shots! I adore Cardinals, one of the 10,000,000 things I miss here in the "West".
Good job on "capturing" him! "Mr. B. Bee" is fat and furry!

And, last, but certainly not least, "Mr. Drew"....I know he brought love and joy (and loads of energy) into your home over the weekend!

None of these things are "little" they are the heart of life, itself!

Love you, "KJB"....sending healing prayers to Stella,

    ♥ Robin ♥

  13. Now I know I left a comment here.
Maybe Mr. Cardinal carried it off to line a nest.

    Anyway, I said:
Usually,,,in my life anyway, it seems the smaller things can often loom largest.
    Especially those that are unexpected.

  17. it sounds like a wonderful weekend all the way around.

do you keep a cupboard for the children? my granma used to keep one for us, it was so special to me. she would add new things to it occasionaly and now i keep one for mine too. i bet you keep those toys for baby drew!

a class would be fun kj, just keep taking lots of photos, it's the best way to improve!

  18. pam, let's face it: you love kids and anything connected with kids. do you play with their toys? like, would you play with mr baby drew's toys? because i would and i think you would be on the floor with me. we know what's important! xoxo

annie, i am following your 'in-the-moment' happenings with curiosity and a root-toot-toot for you. xoox

jos, my problem isn't noticing. it's feeling, sometimes on overload. but i is who i is and i'm thinking that's okay! come join me, jos. ♥

robin! it's me: kjB. thank you for your ever astute comment. i know you know i know you know. :) xoxo

suki, i can't bloom with the technical either but i do want to learn how to use the camera to at least capture what i see. why i haven't yet enrolled in a quickie workshop is another of my mysteries for the ages. :)

  19. soulbrush, you are SO sweet. i'm saying this again! ah mr. baby drew: i have a picture of him but i can't seem to copy or upload it. i'm trying. he is a cutie patootie.

babs, i lOVE spontaneous unplanned joys! i had a weekend like that last fall with two friends from our blogs. it was so special and not just because of my erotic book reading :). no, seriously, it really is all those little things that make up a life. on a related note, thanks for being my friend, babs xoxo

pattee, hmmmmm. pa is about nine driving hours from here but i wonder if there is a northern route on your way. i am in western massachusetts, just above springfield. check it out. that would be great!!! xoxo

cs, the bees are all over our azelea bush--dozens of them hopping from one petal to the next. but damn they won't stay still for a milosecond.

mariana, hello dear friend. i hope you are well. i am starting to look at life as art. i really am. i am finding love in one form or another every where i turn.... i hope this is so for you too ♥

lori, no cupboard, but everything is together at/on/near the bottom shelf of the bookcase. yes, it's so fun to add new surprises.

lori, now, about my camera. i can't improve if i just point and shoot, because there are shots i cannot make no matter what i do. i think i have a pretty good eye: i notice and i aim the camera pretty well. but beyond that, i don't know how to crop, i can't take night pictures, i don't know when and when not to use the flash. sigh....then i see the beauty and skill of your photos, which i can only aspire to and never come close to reaching, and they motivate me. the truth is i don't like when i post pictures like these because i know and you know they are not good enough. ♥

  20. I will take all three, thank you.
I guess you do know that lilies of the valley and violets are my favorite flowers. They grow now all over the place here and people wonders how do I "control them". Say what? It has taken ten years for them to bloom in abundance and they are exquisite, I could not care less if they took over the house. Just imagine...yes! Yours will bloom just as well if you leave them alone and don't try to divide the pips for several years.
    Happy Spring, my dear.

PS: Kelly was one of the things Renee and I had in common. I miss her so much I nearly dissolved into tears the other night at dinner when two blog peeps were here and we talked about her. But I do feel her around the garden, where she belongs.
