Animal Wednesday: Emily Rabbit and the Christmas Ornaments

Hello, it's me, Emily. I was away last week visiting my Uncle Bunny in Cleveland but now I am back in time for Christmas. I usually like Christmas except that I am supposed to be on good behavior according to kj and that is a lot of pressure on me since being good is not the way I usually am and it takes a lot of effort I don't really have and besides most of the time I would rather get in a little trouble anyway because it is more fun to do things the way that they fit with your personality which in my case is sometimes be nice but not most of the time.
.
Anyway, JB and kj put up the Christmas tree and so far the lights have stayed on, which is the first time that has happened in years and kj is tiptoeing near the tree hoping her luck will last.
,
I was going to make a Holiday Card for everyone but I ran out of frozen peas so I will do it next week instead.
.
So this week I am going to show you the ornaments on the Christmas Tree, and some of them are strange. For example, have you ever seen a potato ornament before? Or a scary looking Santa and a scary looking rabbit? But there are some nice ones too so I included those because why not show some of the fun things too, right?
By the way, do you remember my uncle Bunny who was Janis Joplin's friend and then he started the rabbit pellet company? Well he told me he might start a jelly bean company next. I will let you know.
.
And did you hear about my cousin Roweena Rabbit? It seems she disappeared one day last week after Milo Bug left for his next vacation. So far this is a mystery but kj does not seem worried so I think she knows something I don't know yet. But I am working on it and I will let you know when I know, which I think will be soon.
.
Okay, so now you can look at the ornaments if you want to. If there is a story about them I will tell you what it is:
.
.

.
.
This is Rosie. kj cries every year when she puts this up
and then she has hot chocolate and once her tears fell
right into the cup and I laughed and she got mad at me.
.
.

.
.
Every year kj's friend Clara gives her a few little gifts
and sometimes they are ornaments or food or earrings
and once it was a fruitcake that kj threw away as soon as Clara left.
.
.
.

.
.

kj says this is Women of the World
but personally I think it is
"Put your hands up you're under arrest."

.
'
.
.
This is Margarita Mouse and all I can say is she sleeps around.
I cannot tell you what that means because don't forget
I am just a little rabbit
but she told me this herself
so why not believe it?
.
.

..
.
I like this.
That's all I have to say about this one.
.
.

.
.

This just proves

that no one is safe on a Christmas tree,

especially if you are a bird.

.

.
.
hahaha! kj made this wreath
a long long time ago
and she still brags about it,
even though she really shouldn't
but she doesn't know that so she does.
.
.

.
.
;
Jb puts the ornaments on
after kj finishes her temper tantrums
because the lights don't work,
but she didn't this year
for the first time
because so far the lights are staying on.
.
.
.
,
This is the goody-two-shoes on the tree.
She pretends she is an angel, can you tell?
.
.
.
.
.
kj gave Jessica this ornament one Christmas
but Jessica was not into ornaments
so she left it and kj kept it
but now Jessica wants ornaments
but I don't think kj is going to give her this one back,
unless Jessica remembers it is hers
and then kj probably will have to return it, right?
.
.
.
,
,
Scary Santa
.
.

.
.
This is the potato.
I told kj she should be embarrassed
and she laughed.
.
.

.
.
kj calls this "Christmas on the Plains"
.
.
.
.
Scary Rabbit.
I may break it
when no one's looking.
.
.
.
.
And some parts of the tree just look cute.
.
.
See, wasn't this worth the $ 10 that kj is supposed to pay me for writing on her blog? By the way, thank you to everyone who has told kj that she should pay me double. Imagine if I went on strike and refused to write anything? Anyway, I hope you like these ornaments and maybe you have some of your own but I'll bet you don't have a potato.
.
Oh and by the way also, I will be drawing a name to see who is going to get me to write a guest column on their blog. I didn't forget.
.
Sincerely,
.
Emily Rabbit

  2. Emily, we don't have a tree at our house this year because the woman thinks that I will be bad-and I've been good good good. Solo might be bad..BAD BAD DOG.

I think he's more clumsy than bad. The woman bought me a crown ornament but I left may cage and wouldn't go back till she took it away. First the blue perch and then THIS? NO NO NO. I can only be so patient.

Then she gave me a really big brown bag all for me me me-and I forgave her. OTP, PA

  3. Emily,
I'm so glad kj got the lights to work and JB did such a great job of hanging all those wonderful ornaments.
I don't have a potato, but I do have a dill pickle. I'm not sure way, but when the grandkids are here they make a game of finding it, so I have to hide it really well.
Maybe someone will get you a pea ornament!

  6. Soooooo pretty :) Your Christmas tree is beautiful.
Isn't it neat to think about the history of our ornaments. Each one holds a special story, doesn't it? I have been collecting mine since I was a child. It's fun to think about the people that gave them to me.
Merry Christmas to You! Hugs :)

  8. Emily this is a lovely post! Thank you for sharing kj's ornaments! It made me a bit sad though as I won't be getting out my Christmas decorations this year:( But I got over it when I remembered that I will be in Australia with my younger daughter soon! That potato is certainly different! You deserve your pocket money this week!x

  9. Oh yes, Emily, it was worth more than 10 dollar. I never have seen such a beautiful christmas tree and your description of the things in it made me laugh my head off. Now, dearie, would you be so kind to tell KJ that this morning her beautiful card arrived here in good order. We have at the moment an enormous lot of snow here and the postman has to plough through to our postbox but he managed.

  10. Dear Emily,

I love the tree, I really do! It makes me want to go out and get one after all but I won't. Too much work on top of all the work I already have to do to finish unpacking and setting up this house.

By the way, I LOVE the plant that KJ brought over yesterday! I see you signed the tag that it was from you even though KJ was adamant that it was from her.
Then she told me I was also getting a special delivery and she asked me what I would do if all of a sudden you showed up and started throwing frozen peas at my window! I told her I didn't think you would do that, not to me anyway because we're friends even though I'm not your best friend because you already picked Marianne. But do you know what my special delivery was? KJ was very sneaky and called Mim and Mim left work and came to my house to meet us for the first time! It was very special. I don't think Mim is not very smart though because she was across the street from my house and told KJ that she was completely lost. hellloooo, look out your car window! I think it's a blonde thing.
It would have been nice if you had come over too. I don't have any jellybeans but I do have ribbon candy and you could have had the whole box because I don't eat it and Brian wouldn't miss it too much.

Thank you for showing the ornaments. Santa scared me but I liked the bunny. I like the ladies under arrest too ;)

Bye Emily. Merry Christmas and Peas on Earth!

  11. A lovely post AND Tree! It looks like one of those amazing Trees in shopping malls. That takes a lot of patience!

You have beautiful ornaments, Emily! Do you have any chocolate Santa's hanging on the Tree? That was always my favourite, because we all got to eat them when Christmas was over. And sometimes, we would sneak one or two BEFORE Christmas was over! But I know you wouldn't do that, since you love jellybeans, right?

Thank you so much for writing this post and taking the pictures of your Tree. I won't have one this year, so I shall look at yours!

  13. Awe, that was delightful. We have a family heirloom fruit cake that we have had for over 20 years. Every year we wrap it up in disquise and enter it in the family white elephant exchange. The winner is the keeper of the fruitcake for the next year. So yes, you should have kept the fruit cake! **blows merry kisses** Deb

  17. gee that was fun! you could have described every ornament on that pretty tree and i would have enjoyed it.

you know emily, i can't pass by the frozen food section at the market now without a smile on my face (and the sudden urge to throw peas).

hugs to you little bunny. :) ♥

  22. ms chicgeek, do you think you are leaving a comment for kj? because it's me emily rabbit and i can tell you i don't collect ornaments because how would they fit in a rabbit hole anyway? but kj says thanks for coming by and she said she is going to see you too.

mr. snowbrush, thank you for the compliment. but i like it when you are funny the best.

lololo, i could not come with kj because i was busy preparing my christmas card for next week but maybe i will come next time so maybe you should save the ribbon candy and i will try it. did you have a good time with kj and mim? aren't they both kind of troublemakers? but maybe you are too so you would all have fun getting in trouble together, which by the way is my favorite thing as you know and if you want trouble tips let me know and i will try to help you.

    happy holladaze from
    emily r.

caroline, don't forget that you are my friend, okay? not my best friend because that is only marianne but i do like that you encourage me to get more money and i like the way you paint animals and birds too. don't be sad about letting your daughter do all the work because really that is very smart of you. i think you should just look like you are having fun and that is enough.

wieneke, hello, how are you? i told kj about the card and she was glad. you are very nice to her. i am glad you laughed your head off. i like it when you think i am funny because you know i try very hard to be funny and only slightly grumpy, which is smart of me, don't you think?

    your maybe friend,
    emily

  23. marion, there is no chocolate on this tree. i just checked and i didn't find anything like that. i think you should have some chocolate yourself this year. maybe you should get some of those gold coins and eat them so you won't miss having a tree. someone told me that if you eat enough chocolate, you'll be too sick to worry about anything. what do you think of that idea?

thank you renee. i like your stories too but sometime you should say something nice about me on your own blog because then i will feel popular and that would be very nice of you, don't you think so?

deborah, that is very funny about the fruitcake. hahaha! is it very hard by now? could you throw it across the room if you were mad? have you ever done that?

ms. soulbrush, kj says you hate christmas. hmmmppff! i could help you like it more. i think you need lessons in how to whine better and throw temper tantrums. let me know if you want lessons.

mim, kj says you are smart but i heard her say you are even nicer than you are smart. what do you think she meant by that?

    yours truly,
    e.r.

  24. lori ann, do you know i like to whine and kick my feet in the air when i don't get my way? and do you know i cry from deep in my stomach, very loud and sometimes i make a scene? i am very surprised that you seem to like me and i kind of like you alot back but make sure you don't mind if i am not nice all the time because i would be sad if i had to be nice all the time. and lori ann, don't forget the frozen brussel spouts if things get really bad.

sonia, kj showed me a picture of you and you look very fun, which i am not surprised about at all since everyone knows you are fun, and nice too, which makes me nice sometimes too.

    sincerely,
    emily rabbit

  25. KJ, was it the gun that you found disturbing? I don't even see that. What I see is a front-line military man posing in the unexpected snow and delighting in it. Infantry (although my guess is he is a marine) always have their gun...it's just a part of them, like their right arm. Try not seeing the gun and see the joy on the mans face...he is feeling Christmas in a foreign land without his family. **kisskiss** Deb

  29. kj says this is Women of the World
but personally I think it is
"Put your hands up you're under arrest." This bit ... and the bit about the peas made me laugh out loud. Just perfect.

Emily, we are obviously two of a kind. KJ was right about that. So I will join the petition for your wage rise ... seems only fair to me. Ha ha ha ... still laughing.

And I love the tree and all the twinkly lights. More perfection. Gotta get me a potato for mine.

  32. lololo, kj is chatting it up and visiting all these people she doesn't see often enough. she took her 93 year old godmother out for mexican food, exchanged gifts with joey, who she helps out from time to time, and visited her friend theresa, who is blind and just went into a nursing home. in between, she shopped and ate in boston, hung out with jb and her fantastic niece, and finished--finished i say!!--her christmas shopping. she even bought you a little holiday gift which she is pretty sure you will like. she loves you, you know...

    sincerely,

oh you are going to open my gift on christmas morning! you HAVE to let me know if you like it. it is okay to lie and say you do if you don't, but i think you will.

don't forget you are my best friend. oh, kj got the mandala and she was squealing in the kitchen. even i think it is very beautiful. i said to her, 'my best fried marianne did that' and she said back to me, 'emily, do you think i don't know that already?' kj can be such a wise guy.

    love
