A Moment of Immodesty...

.
The absolute best part of having a book published is the attention. Maybe my ego needs to calm down, but I am over the top when someone tells me she/he liked my book, or when a review or article appears somewhere in print.
.
This chapter excerpt appeared in Provincetown Magazine last week. I chose the chapter and they did me the honor of gracing it with a great layout. I published 'The Light Stays On' myself: actually, I "created" a small publishing company which I playfully named Chihuahua Press. The book design and page layout came to life through the work and talent of my friend Bill Michalski, and I was blessed with the gift of an original painting for the cover by my incredible friend Valgal http://valgalart.blogspot.com/. In case you don't know, the painting is my partner jb's studio, located in our side yard. We call it The Magic Cottage.
.
I am responsible for promoting and publicizing the book, and I admit I've taken my good old time. I've been slow in finding the right momentum. But still, every book signing, every reading, every interview, every review and excerpt gives me a certain rush that is indescribable.
.
So please forgive me for tooting my own horn today. The truth is when I flipped the pages of Provincetown Magazine and saw this, I just couldn't help toot-tooting.
xoxo

  11. Congratulations about your book, I did not have a clue you already have 3 published ones, it is amazing, it take my hat of. I do not know how big is your ego now, but I do not think it is that bad, I think if you where a selfish disgusting egomaniac person you would not be able to be so nice to the others and help them with some stuff. So just enjoy feeling great about yourself, anyways it is always good to monitor yourself not to go out of the reasonable level of the ego range. I will die for reading the novel, but I just can not get it here, I always have that issues with my foreign friend, we can not share things, or at least is much more difficult to do it.

I am really happy for you karen
    Take care

The excerpt reads great...but I'm not at all surprised. Congratulations on the book and on your decision to toot your own horn on its behalf.

It's so nice to meet you! What a radiant smile you have, and look at the reason why!

This is thrilling! of course, you would want to share your wonderful accomplishment. I think everything is better when shared. And I think your modest way of sharing was charming.

Congratulations Karen, you have completely earned this. When I get back from Oregon my book should have arrived.
