I Can't Help It...(Please Forgive Me)

I generally make an effort to keep my politics a safe distance from my blog. Although I've cringed at the arrogance and stupidity (this word chosen only for the sake of accuracy) of my President for the last eight years, I've been proud of the diversity of a Prisoner of War, a Woman, and an African American as Presidential candidates. And absolutely I've been comforted by the anticipation of ABB (Anybody But Bush).
.
Whoa! My comfort zone disappeared when John McCain chose one Sarah Palin as his running mate. Some people find her refreshing, charming, cute, folksy, and she has certainly energized the snoring enthusiasm of McCain's conservative base. But qualified? Experienced? Sufficiently prepared? Articulate? Knowledgeable? Not one press conference so far, and for good reason. But if by some cruel twist of fate she is required to in some way respond off the cuff and off the stump, at least she's prepared.
.
(Smile).

  2. I don't want to interfere with this presidential election of course ;-) but yesterday a friend sent me a link to the oval office where Sarah Palin was sitting as president. You can click on about anything in the room, even the windows, but you have to save the red telephone for the last click.

  3. I don't find her refershing, charming, cute, or folksy. She's dumb, evasive, and has appalling values.

  4. The second blog entry about politics that I read today.
A shame, a woman that is critisized for her lack of integrity. There are enough men you can accuse of the same.

  6. You wait until Ces gets rid of her headache you'll be in fer it! I did see her interviewed by some journo can't remember who. She carried herself reasonably well and I'm not sure experience is too much of a prerequisite, there's plenty of support for a n00b, it's her lack of foreign policy knowledge and cavalier attitude to the environment that irks me.

  7. Amen, KJ!! I think my father put it best when he said, "A politician is supposed to inspire me to be the best I can be...not inspire me to be Joe Six-pack!"

  8. Hah! So funny! She is truly the stuff of nightmares. Do check out wieneke's link, though - you'll have many laughs! On the serious side - it would be a sad day for our country if that ticket somehow manages to win...

p.s. - thanks for stopping by my blog. Those journal pages are 8" x 10" so it's pretty easy to get the detail of the facial features. I just call them journals because that way they don't count and I don't feel nervous! xox

  9. I do not want someone "just like me" to be POTUS or VPOTUS. I don't want a "joe six pack" or a hockey mom.

I want someone extraordinary. Someone whose vision is wider and longer and deeper and farther than my own.

In today's dark and twisty, scary and damaged, broken world, that person is Barack Obama.

  10. I should probably keep my nose out of this but I am really glad I don't have a vote in this election.

Maybe it is just the coverage we are receive here but it seems to be ALL about personality. Does anyone have any policies?

  11. The comment monster got me today!

That should read "the coverage we are receiving here..."

  12. Should McCain expire in office and the Football, the suitcase with the launch codes, falls into her hands, we're in big trouble.

Anyone who condones shooting Wolves with Shotguns from airplanes prolly wouldn't lose much sleep droppin' a few bad boys on some godless heathen.

  13. oh this so rocks...I don't like her at all and how she treats animals is deplorable.

  14. My American auntie said, when here for Thanksgiving, "I used to say I would endorse any woman who runs for office anywhere, any time, but never in a million years would I vote for her". I heard that Colin Powell is endorsing Obama now, too. What does that tell you?

  15. baino, i have a feeling, like me, this is not a candidate you would be supporting!

lauren, what's all this with joe six pack and joe the plumber anyway?

carla, i hope 'that one' gracefully loses as well!

kris, obama wasn't my first choice but he seems quite intelligent and thoughtful. here's hoping...

miladya, actually, i suspect you too would have a relatively easy choice in this american election. :)

hello he, i hate the thought of everything you've mentioned!

ronni, thanks for stopping by. i too strongly support animal rights.

andrea, hello! what does that tell you? well, quite a bit. unfortunately, the expression "when you're a hammer, everything's a nail" seems to dictate these political campaigns. there seems to be no middle ground: it's either the good guys or the bad guys and i wish that weren't so. but since it is, i am very glad colin powell finally spoke his own truth.

  16. She is everything a token woman should be. I'm apalled at how many people actually like her. I despise her to a degree that I don't usually allow myself with public figures.

  17. kj, he wasn't my first choice either. I voted for someone else in the primary.

But, as I said when McCain made his pick lo those 7 weeks ago, while I'd have proudly and happily voted for a woman in this election, I'm not going to vote for just ANY woman.
